'Silly ugly ginger kid'?

Degale should not say things like that, kids read that patheric paper and wil use that sort of language ( some do ayway)..

Degale should fight and stop being a priick in the press.

Personally, I would like to see this fight..Sooner rather than later!!!

Groves is more humble and I would want him to win.

DeGale can talk all he wants but why not just take the fight get in the ring and see who is the better man? Boxing fans have come to expect boxers avoiding each other and giving crap excuses - not enough money, lets build the fight up, I dont want to give him a payday etc. etc. Just give the fans what they want and make the fights we all want to see.

Its all a pretty tiresome waste of ink. The fights not going to happen, not for a long time at least so why bother with all this crap.

The whole thing comes across as a little bit cheap on the part of Hayemaker.

They know the fight won't be made and they know at this stage it should not be made. So they go and publicly offer £50,000 knowing that the fight won;t get made and that many people will blame FW (as they do it seems for the Haiti earthquake).

If the roles were reversed people on here would be calling FW all the names under the sun so at least people should be consistent.

For the record I think Groves would win the fight right now but DeGale would in the long term

I'm in a bit of a mood today, so here goes.

Eff this. Seriously, is this this best the press can do? Pointless "needle" and "hype" stories about a fight that, without question won't happen for years and probably will never happen at all.

De Gale and Groves won't be fighting each other. De Gales next opponent is Matthew Barr, and the last guy Groves fought, well, OK.

Well match and exciting fights between prospects are exceptionally rare.

Also, all this "money angle." Boring. I want to see boxing action, not budget talks.

OK, now my serious point.

The problem is the lack of coverage in the press. There have been some good fights, and some excellent wins (eg Magee) recently, but they get very little coverage, if any. It's disappointing, and unproductive, that the press focus on hype and nonsence rather than the sport itself.

But, I'll happily stand corrected.

If De Gale and Groves do fight, as both unbeaten prospects (ie assuming one of them hasn't lost already) within the next 18 months I'll make a £500 donation to the NSPCC.

the difference is that if wazza offered the fight to hayemaker they would take the fight. seems to me that hayemaker are deadly serious about the fight.

It's simply never going to happen.

With 4 "main" World titles, 4 or more "wank" world titles, inummerable "international" titles, "British" and "Commonwealth" titles that largely save the same purpose etc, the fight well never HAVE to happen.

So it never will.

Goes for me too :TU:

It gets me why some people get an over inflated opinion of themselves ... why does he think he`s worth more than 50grand at this stage of his career .. I`d be surprised if he has earn`t anything like that for any of his contests so far.

And considering he says he`d not only win - but knock Groves out  ... well, 50grand is easy money isn`t it?

Wonder what the reaction would be if Groves started reffering to him as the silly ugly black kid

Degale is for me part of the reason why boxing is going down, he is unlikeable and not very good. He wins an olympic gold medal but so what it isn't like winning one from 1992 and before. Amatuer boxing is just soo different and I might add crap to wacth as well. Why shouldn't these 2 fight, I cannot think of one good reason why not. People can say "they should build the fight" but they are both un-defeated which imo they both wont be in the next 2-3 yrs. Sell the fight as 2 of the best prospects in Btitain fighting, it will sell as big now as it will 2-3 yrs down the line.

Can you honestly see it though?

Lets be honest, the British title doesn't have the prestige it once did (look at the level of opposition in most fights, the fact Khan, Haye etc never fought for it at all etc).

The financial implications for the loser and his promotors mean that there is more to be lost than to be gained here.

Ain't gonna happen!
