Darren Barker activity or lack of

Post by bigdawg78 »

Anyone heard any rumours when we're gonna see Darren Barker again? Desperate to see him fight Macklin.

i was gonna make a thread about this yesterday. barker is now 27 and soon to turn 28. mick hennessy can only get him 2 fights a year. i would suggest if barker wants to become a world champion before he is 31 then he goes with frank wrren. hennessy has a good stable but when it comes to tv deals and making fights he is a shambles

 Good one. I do feel sorry for him though - if ITV hadn't pulled out he'd being doing pretty well right now.

Yeah it may be harsh but Murray and Barker really can't afford to be left in limbo at this stage in their careers - both far too good for that.

I'd like to see him fight for the Euro Title this year, but; his performances seem too few and far between. Just hope this does not affect his motivation.

Id love to see Barker-Macklin and its bloody ridiculous that these fights never seem to happen - look at the public reaction to big domestic fights like Haye-Enzo, its what the people want.

I thought I read an article Macklin saying he would fight Barker. Macklin beaten better fighters than Barker imo.

Macklin will more likely go for a showdown with Lee. When asked a few months back, Macklin said if a world title fight didn't materialise he would be interested in fighting Lee. This would be a huge fight for Ireland and generate much more money as it is extremely rare to have a domestic fight of this magnitude in Ireland. I, personally would rather see him fight Barker but I doubt that fight will happen soon.

Completely agreed!!!

And with regards your comment concerning Witter - why not pitch him in with Hatton - that fight would still sell - even now!!!

I disagree. witter needs hatton but ricky doesn't need the awkward switch hitter who isn't a big name in the states. would be great if it happend.
