The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
Very few fighters are capable of having similar power in both hands. How will you rate Joe louis Power using the 1 to 10 points. Lets say right hand 10 and left hand 8. Rocky Marciano. right hand 10 left hand 8. Joe Frazier. Left hand 9 right hand 5. sorry joe frazier did not had any power in his right hand. Sonny liston. right hand 9 left hand 9. George foreman. right hand 10 left hand 8. Mike Tyson. Right hand 9 left hand 10.

Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
Arguello had big power in either hand maybe a 9 in right and a 8 in left.

Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
Sorry, you're dead-wrong about Frazier. Do you think his opposition left the arena with swollen & battered ribs on one side of their body? I assure you, if you ask them, you'll find the answer is an emphatic, "no." It amazes me how often I see members on this & other Forums, whose knowledge is otherwise quite impressive, make such a fundamental error with a fighter like Frazier --- yeah, his right hand upstairs was a lesser punch. How do people miss what he does to the torso? I'll never understand it. Frazier saved his best punch for the left hand --- upstairs, only. Downstairs, he was a two-fisted banger, & you won't find any adversary of his who'll disagree.
Anyway, back on topic, Arguello was an extremely even-handed puncher, one of the best I can think of off-hand. How about (the current version) of Manny Pacquiao? Left hand (10), right hand (7). That right would've been ranked lower in past years, but not today.

IMO, you over-estimate Marciano's power & slightly over-state Liston's even-handedness. He was an excellent two-fisted hitter, but his left (in both the jab & hook) was stronger.marchegiano007 wrote:Very few fighters are capable of having similar power in both hands. How about Jack Dempsey, (R-8), (L-9), or Carlos Monzon (R-8), (L-9).
Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
Speaking of Frazier, did he ever put anyone away with a liver shot? And does that denote power to the body? I would think it would be an indicator. Are HW's less prone to this fight ending punch? Doesn't seem to happen all that often.

Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
I remember in a hbo vhs cassette that Many said Marciano lost his punching power in the first ezzard charles fight. the ref did not separate the fighters even once. An to me Marciano besto punching power was at the beggining of his career up to 1953. in 54 and 55 it looks he was more agressive and throw more punches and sacrificed a littel punching power look at the films. And yes Arguello hit hard with both hands. I will say right hand 9 and left hand 8.

Edwin Rosario is a guy who should not be looked over, he had power to spare in both hands though he favored his left hook.

I'm sure it will be met with derision, but holyfield had every punch in the book and could hurt you with both hands. His hook was probably his best punch, but Qawi got starched with a right hand as did Douglas.

How would people rate Thomas Hearns?
At welterweight and light middleweight, I would definitely say a 10 for his right, but I can't remember how good his left was. Not a lot of power in his jab I thought, but hooks and uppercuts???

naseem hamed has to be up there for two handed KO power
Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
LOL.
Nobody here ever heard of Bob Fitzsimmons.
or Joe Gans.
Or welterweight Joe Walcott.
Or Sam Langford.

Yep, agree with what you say about the Frazier right.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Sorry, you're dead-wrong about Frazier. Quarry and Ramos would most likely agree, too.

Agree again about Marciano's power being overrated in the original post.Goodnight, Irene wrote:IMO, you over-estimate Marciano's power & slightly over-state Liston's even-handedness. I see Rocky as more of a attrition puncher than pure pulverizing knockout artist.
Yeah, Jersey Joe might disagree.

Hearns hook to the body was lethal and his jab was quite hard, you can ask Leonard about his jab. It nearly took out his eye. As for hooks to the head, nothing overwhelming there. Certainly had power on it if he threw it with conviction, but it wasn't a big part of the equation. Sometimes he would cuff someone into a right with it.
Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
Id rate Joe Louis left hand 10 right hand 10, and the same with Liston.
Also John Mugabi 10 and 10
And Jaime Garza

Pure nonsense

Nigel Benn had legitimate one punch ko power in both hands

Re: The big punchers with 2 hand ko power
Two guys that come to mind for me are when I have watched them
in action...
Thomas Hearns...
His right hand was incredible (Cuevas, Duran fights), his left hook sharp-accurate and devastating
to the body and head (watch the Shuller fight), his jab was sythe like and set up so much.
Mike Tyson...
Nearly everything he hit a man with would put him down, whether singular or as part of a combination.
His career illustrates this.
Floyd Patterson...
The man with easily the fastest hands at HW, and perhaps a bit south of that too.. he could put a man
down with his savage volleys with either hand, but he could also land a singular instantaneous blow
that would fell a big man.
Archie Moore...
His record says it all, and he landed and dropped alot of foes with both hands. He could do it with
combinations and he could muster it all with one hard and savage shot.
Joe Louis...
His left hook, right cross if either landed clean, as they often did men would go down. He is a guy
any one learning to box should watch as far as near perfect form goes.
George Foreman...
He threw hard, crude but primal blows that really damaged men, whether in his youth or as a senior
ring general he had the power. His jab, uppercuts, right cross-over hand and a wide left hook, all
could put a man away.
Earnie Shavers..
I think he just had near perfect instant explosivenes in his blows. His right hand is most famous, but
I do recall seeing him land shots with both hands that wobbled knees or felled men.
Bob Satterfield..
The handful of fights I have of Satterfield show how hungry he is for the KO and how when he does
land, he will drop a man. NOt the cleanest puncher, but he is the most violent.
Jerry Quarry...
He had a lovelly left hook that he could land nicely to the jaw, and a great counter right hand that
he timed often when his foe was mid sentence. Both were enough to trouble and stop good men.
Those come to mind at this ti,me. I know they are heavyweight heavy, but I watch a lot of the
bigger men. And have not seen enough of the lighter guys to have an accurate assesment with
my own eyes.

No one's yet mentioned him, but Riddick Bowe had an excellent left hook to go with his more celebrated overhand right. Either punch, cleanly delivered, kept you backpeddling.
