I do as well. It would have its moments. But I see Spinks getting the win.

Intriguing match-up. Very tight, IMO. I think either Spinks wide via frustrating Quarry into errors, or Quarry close, as a result of bullying & out-hustling Spinks down the stretch.

Jerry beats his brother, and Mike, just not on the same night.

With the exception of Tyson, Michael Spinks never fought anyone as good as Quarry. I don't think Spinks could handle 200lbs of prime Quarry, Quarry by mid round tko.

Sure, Quarry lost a whopping two fights out of 66 on cuts so I'm sure that's the likely outcome.

I think hhhrae is forgetting Larry Holmes, but that's a poor barometer anyway b/c the Larry who fought Spinks the first fight was overconfident and clearly past his prime at 35 years old. Even at that in the rematch he got jobbed. Spinks never beat any heavyweight near the level of a peak Quarry . . .Quarry's counterpunching would catch Michael in one of his awkward lunges and he'd be put to sleep sometime before the 12th.

I didn't forget Holmes but as you correctly stated, Holmes was well past his prime and got robbed in the second fight.

Exactly right.

Non-heavyweight Spinks collapsed as soon as Tyson touched him.

Holmes showed what a disgrace he was by his struggles with non-heavyweight Spinks.

Cooney's losing to the pathetic Spinks shows what a nothing he was.

Did Dempsey show what a disgrace he was when he struggled with non HW
Tunney ?

Or Corbett with MW Fitzsimmons ?

Quarry struggled with some smaller men in his time... Ellis was a blown up
MW, Patterson was a MW cum LHW,

Spinks would've lost to Ellis and Patterson as well . . .I'm not as high on Spinks as many seem to be. Great fighter but I was simply never impressed by any of his performances above 175.

Jerry Quarry would win for sure.
He was old school from the Golden Age of Heavyweights.
Spinks opponents were mostly a bunch of new age woosies.

You never mentioned who would beat Quarry. You said Spinks never faced anyone as good as Quarry. You also never said solely lightheavy's. I'd have to say Qawi was better,Johnson was better and Muhammad was better.

I would pick Gerry Cooney to beat Quarry as well as any old unmotivated version of Larry Holmes.

Spinks lost a whopping ONE fight by KO and in that fight was the only time he was ever down. I'm sure that's a likely outcome.

Qawi, Johnson and Muhammad were good light heavys but they would have no chance against a 25 lbs heavier prime Quarry. Qawi was the best of them and he could not compete at hw, he was not very good at cruiser either. We'll just have to disagree on Cooney (especially the version Spinks fought) and old man Holmes.

Discussion ended. The above comments are plain ignorant. Marvin Johnson better than Jerry Quarry? WTF? Muhammad couldn't even beat Renaldo Snipes let alone a peak Quarry,

I did not catch the quote where grimm said muhammad could beat quarry, he said greater. Do you rank quarry over muhammad in your all time rankings? I wouldn't . However the version of Cooney that Spinks beat would stand no chance against Quarry.
