It takes a very brave man to get in the ring with Valero, you can be sure that you're about to have the most painful night of your life. He hits like a mini George Foreman, they have to put him in some superfights soon.
His title winning effort was just an unbelievable fight, right up there with Barrera/Morales, Benn/McClellan

valero seems to have taken a eaf out of tim bradley's book: batter a promising, if untested prospect, in defense of your world title. look amazing and try to attract a big fight.

interestingly, there has been talk of valero v bradley. what a fight that would be.

obviously, there's no need to believe it until it's confirmed, this being boxing. we know what happened to the last tasty big fight, juanma lopez v gamboa. it just gets put back, and put back, and put back, the promoter even saying "fvck the boxing fans."

Valero is great to watch, but i'm one who thinks he's going to walk onto something and get chinned. He doesn't remind me of Pacman, he reminds me of Vic Darchinyan. Like Darchinyan he's got an unorthodox style and big balls, but he makes tonnes of mistakes defensively.

I was massively impressed with Valero. He surprised me with his speed. his commitment to attacks & his ability to switch from attack to defence -- all qualities I believed he lacked in suffficient quantity.

But, I totally agree with ArtofWar here: he fights almost exactly like Vic Darchinyan. Also, he moves in straight lines with his head completely immobile. He got caught very flush a fair few times by DeMarco, but the Mexican was so outgunned & also just too slow to do anything with him.

Very good fight though. I was in line with the press row scoring, giving DeMarco three rounds or so. The Mexican has an excellent chin & I think is a better fighter than Mosquera -- who Valero struggled more with -- it's just that the Panamanian was a much harder hitter & therefore gave Valero more trouble.

But big respect to Valero, he proved me wrong there.

he's a strange one, skillswise

like many have said there is much that he does wrong fundamentally esp w/r/t head movement

but then there are some things he does very well indeed- his footwork isn't lauded but it's not bad, his control of distance is excellent

he reminds me just a little, actually, of JMM, when he (valero) is looking to fox his man into committing to punches from the wrong distance, and counterpunch off those chances.

it sounds like the kind of crap apologia that a fanboy would dredge up, but i really think he gets hit so much because he is almost looking to get his man to hit him and feel brave enough to exchange, a case of his offensive style totally dominating his defence.

The thing with Valero is he hits hard with whatever he lands, even his jabs land with intent - He might be flawed technically but when you're on the end of his punches, it is automatically going to make you think twice and put you out of your stride.

It is going to take a strong willed boxer to beat Valero.

I hope Valero steps up the competition. The likes of Casamayor, Katsidis, J.Diaz, Malignaggi, Mitchell, Marquez and Murray are all possiblilties I would like to see him fight one of the above. He looks good though

Well thats about the 3rd time i've watched valero and although he is not without faults he is very entertaining.Reminds me of manny pac from about 5 years ago.
Whats the situation with the brain scan from years ago?
I know he's fought in texas but he has'nt boxed in any of the big u.s boxing states.
