2009 USA Nat'l Champs have auto berth into 2010 USA Nat'ls

Post by Dennis »

I want to clear up a few things. The '09 champs have an automatic berth into the 2010 USA Nationals at the same weight that they won at in '09, except the small guys of 106, 112, 119 and 125 can move up or down because of the new weight classes. Everyone else has to compete at the same weight class to utilize the automatic berth. Boxers can enter other tournaments or even their LBC tournament and still fall back on their auto berth. A boxer can enter these other tourneys at the same weight or try to win it at a different weight. If a boxer enters his LBC tourney, he does NOT lose his auto berth. If a boxer is eligible for the '10 tourney in two different weight classes or from 2 different teams ('09 Nat'l PAL, '10 NGG, '09 USA auto berth, '10 Regional team, etc.), they just have to declare what weight they will be entering the '10 USA National Championships at and what team they will be representing. It is their choice. This is all from Anthony Bartkowski who said he will be posting more info about this on the USA Boxing website in the next few weeks.

BTW - Miguel Cartagena still is automatically qualified at 108# at the USA Boxing National Championships in spite of losing in his LBC tourney.
