Casey will take on Ibar Riyaz who defeated Gavin Prunty on the Dubliners debut in April of last year. This is scheduled for 6 rounds.
Conlans opponent has not yet been named. It will be over a 4 round distance.

Heard Fagan and Dean Byrne been knocking lumps out of each other in the gym lately. I'd like to see that. Dean's a bit heavy tho, isn't he? Although I suppose sparring is sparring.
Re: Oisin Fagan vs Andy Murray-13th February
Fagan would probably spar with Valuev if you told him too, couldn't imagine him being above the Russians beltline

Haha, yeah Fagan would have a go against anyone- He could use Valuev's balls as a speed bag

Is Willie Casey a good fighter?
Re: Oisin Fagan vs Andy Murray-13th February
Apparently Casey hits really hard for a super-feather
Re: Oisin Fagan vs Andy Murray-13th February
Casey impressed me in Limerick against Michael O'Gara. Okay, so the opponent wasn't of the highest calibre, but Willie dealt with his attacks well and ground him down.Jared Brasher wrote:Is Willie Casey a good fighter?

Want Murray to win this but Fagan will give him a hell of a fight.Hope Murray on pts, but wouldnt put my house on it. Although Murray is the more "hyped" fighter with his high-profile promotors, out of the 2, fagan has been in with better opposition. Go Murray!GO!
Re: Oisin Fagan vs Andy Murray-13th February
The Irish based Cuban Alexei Acosta has been added to the card. He will be fighting Aberdeens Gavin Reid in a 8 rounder. Should be a decent fight.

Heard Fitzy V Murtagh is called off- Murtagh pulled out AGAIN- thats messing. Guess we'll depend on the Fagan-Murray fight for the fireworks, which no doubts it will be full of, if Murray opts to "fight" intsead of running. Cant wait and its still a cracking card with out the Fitzy fight. Feel sorry for the kid, but he's got plenty of time to go for it again.

How will this go so lads? What are the bookie's odds?
Fagan is one tough little hombre, but he's small and coming off a couple of beatings.
Murray didn't impress at the 02 last March but I think his opponent was cha ged at the last minute and the Spaniard was tougher than he was given credit for, stood up to a lot from McCloskey since.
Murray wasn't great last time out either against a journeyman who came to win (surprisingly), but he was coming off a bad injury.
So question marks galore. My prediction?
Murray to take a one-sided points win.

Boylesports have Murray @1/6 and Fagan @ 4/1 and a draw @ 25/1
I also see Murray winning by a few rounds but Fagan will put up a good fight.

Fagan is a tough fúcker and will never say die but I see him losing every round in a fight that will actually be pretty close. It would be better for Irish boxing if Murray wins convincingly but I will be literally roaring Fagan on.Deno1986 wrote:Boylesports have Murray @1/6 and Fagan @ 4/1 and a draw @ 25/1

To be honest I cant get a horn for Murray. He is very safe and technically sound but is lacking in a bit of star quality and aggression - maybe that will experience - he has been unfortunate because his career has never really built up momentum and has been a bit stop start.feargalocuinneagain wrote:I agree Slapbangwhallop Oisín is hardy there's no two ways about it. He continue to fight Isaac Mendoza with a broken nose and cheekbone. That shows great courage. However Murray is an up and coming star (hopefully) and for the sake of his career I hope he wins. If Murray is to stop Oisín he'll have to fracture some part of Oisín body to do it...slapbangwhallop wrote:Fagan is a tough fúcker and will never say die but I see him losing every round in a fight that will actually be pretty close. Both lads are about as nice fellas as you could meet but polar opposites - a loss for Fagan wouldnt be the end of the world but a loss Murray would have serious ramifications for his future.
Re: Oisin Fagan vs Andy Murray-13th Feb, Alexei Acosta added.
I don't see Murray ever really making it at European level, and certainly no further than that. He's technically sound as you say, but I don't like what happens to him when he's put under pressure and roughed up. Fagan could give him absolute hell tomorrow night, and it's just a shame for Oisín's sake he doesn't carry a little more of a dig because he might really be able to discourage Murray if he did.slapbangwhallop wrote:To be honest I cant get a horn for Murray. Fagan deserves a big win in his career and I'd like to see him get it here. Not that I've anything against Murray, he seems a very nice guy and I'd love if he were able to prove me wrong and go and win the European title but I just don't see him being able to stand up to the likes of John Murray. At EU level he's grand, and he's good enough to fight for the European title, but just not good enough to win it imo.
I'd gonna predict a 97-94 scoreline(Irish refs love even rounds) for Murray in a very tough fight. You don't get an easy night against Oisín Fagan.

I'll reserve judgement on Murray till after Saturday, where I think he'll impress.
As you say he's had no chance to build momentum. I love Fagan though, he's very tough and all action but he's 36 - I think he could be on the wane. Then again, he was a late starter.
Where can you get odds on Murray to win on points?
