Brodie probably still has too much left in the tank for Gomez.

Brodie is the much better boxer. BUT I wouldn't know who to pick on this one due to the size difference.

1) Gomez resistance isn't that great, but can Brodie hurt him?

2) Brodie been knockdown and stopped by featherweight and its not just Chi that has floored him. Would the bigger Gomez be able to hurt him?

3) Can Brodie outbox Gomez for 12 rounds without getting drawn in to a fight?

Brodie hits as hard as Alvarez, I think he would knock lumps out of Gomez on the evidence of Gomez' last fight.

everyone seems to be ignoring the size difference. Isn't gomez a big lightweight and brodie a relatively small featherweight? gomez would bash him up, but this isn't saying much, and it would be a pointless matchup.

gomez is a fairly big super featherweight, but doubt he weighs in much heavier than Harrison come fight night, if at all.

Brodie has fought on a far higher level than gomez, who doesnt deserve to fight brodie anyway

Little has changed since I last thought about this fight, even though it's been well over six months.

I knew about the many faults of Gomez, and the most recent defeat was no surprise. However, I'd always pick him to beat Brodie, even though I prefer Brodie as a fighter, and a person (not that I don't like Gomez, it's just personal preference). Although they fight only one weight apart, on the night of the fight Gomez would be a lightweight, whilst Brodie would still be a fairly small featherweight. Although Brodie's the better boxer, the difference would be too much I think.

Having said that, much would depend on how much is left in both men. Gomez looked washed up last time out, and I remember saying that he's one fight away from retirement. But, that's something that could be said of Brodie too. He's had some really hard fights, especially the last two. He could come back and have nothing left to offer.

All things equal, I'd pick Gomez.

Obviously, Gomez has the size advantage, whilst Brodie is (in my opinion, at least), a far superior boxer. In these respects, you could say they cancel each other out.

For me, though, I give the edge to Brodie. Because I always have doubts about Gomez's stamina: I always get the impression that he's blowing hard after 5 rounds, when he's in a top-level fight. I think Brodie could ride any early storm and wear Gomez out down the stretch. As someone mentioned earlier, I'm sure Brodie hits as hard as Alvarez, and he would probably hit more and more often in the later rounds. He has, after all, mixed at a much higher level than Gomez.
