I'd think so, unless they're recently retired. Then it would be about the current version of them.SouthpawStephen wrote:Was wondering that myself, however, Manny is a current boxer.
Do all mythical match-ups involving one active fighter go to the past section?

If it's not current, then it goes in 'Boxers of the past'. At least, that's my take.SouthpawStephen wrote:Was wondering that myself, however, Manny is a current boxer.

It's not the mismatch I know some envision. Duran never saw anything like him, & needs to get off the deck early & pull out every dirty trick in the book (& Duran carried a bible of the filthy stuff) to stop Pacquiao on his stool through ten competitive, electric rounds of action.
Shades of Pacquiao's fight with Sanchez at times, as he struggles to cope with the foul tactics. The battle between Arcel & Roach would've been just as intriguing.

The difference between the IMHO is that Duran would enjoy it, Manny would be going to work.

You have to admit, though, Pacquiao has a beautiful warriors' mentality --- Duran would surely invite him to exchange, & while I think Pacquiao would ultimately come to regret a fire-fight, he'd have more than his share of moments, for mine. Great fight while it lasts.BoxBuzz wrote:The difference between the IMHO is that Duran would enjoy it, Manny would be going to work.

why does everyone think pacquiao would give duran such a hard fight? look, a prime duran at welterweight would have KO'd a prime welter de la hoya, a prime cotto and let's not even talk about ricky hatton. it would have been first degree murder. duran fought faster, slicker, more powerful opponents than pacquiao. i guess most of you were in diapers to remember the best of roberto duran and are just overwhelmingly enamored with current fighters.
a prime duran would have exposed pacquiao like a dirty snot rag!

The sad thing is you write with a style indicative of someone not far removed from diapers.milmascaras1 wrote:why does everyone think pacquiao would give duran such a hard fight? look, a prime duran at welterweight would have KO'd a prime welter de la hoya, a prime cotto and let's not even talk about ricky hatton. it would have been first degree murder. duran fought faster, slicker, more powerful opponents than pacquiao. i guess most of you were in diapers to remember the best of roberto duran and are just overwhelmingly enamored with current fighters.a prime duran would have exposed pacquiao like a dirty snot rag!
I wasn't around until Duran was fighting the likes of Hearns & Hagler. I take it you're a good bit older (or so you claim). How about growing up?
That much aside, for anyone not familiar with the fact, Mascara or whatever his name is is absolutely rabidly anti-Pacquiao. Watch him come on now & accuse me of being a Pacquiao fan, for nothing more than saying what I just did.
Take any opinion he has on Pacman with a grain of salt...if that.

It's a wonder mascara doesn't go get his mate, Sprayon Asswhoopin to come and open a can of whoopass (oh wait, he has it in spray on form) on this thead to help him ruin an intriguing discussion.
I thought these clowns stayed in the Currrent Scene, G.I.
Any way, I wonder how Pacquiao vs Tzyu would turn out? I agree that a prime Duran vs Pacquiao would be explosive, two fighters thet enjoy going to war and both not afraid to let their fists go.

Pacquiao & Tszyu is worth discussing as a 140lb battle. Make a thread of it with a poll. See how it goes down. I don't think it's been put up on the forum, yetdberry wrote:It's a wonder mascara doesn't go get his mate, Sprayon Asswhoopin to come and open a can of whoopass (oh wait, he has it in spray on form) on this thead to help him ruin an intriguing discussion.

LOL @ the spray form comment. They typically do stay in Current Scene. Katie, bar the door!

dberry,
what is this, an all-out australian team ganging up on me and sprayin' asswhoppin'? suit yourself. i'm not here to take any sides but to just talk boxing and maybe even get into a few skirmishes!

No dingo-ate-my-baby comment? Could it be you're evolving, or was it just a lapse in your wittier judgement? Are you & Spray-On an, "all-out American freight train of mediocrity?"
You may be getting dumber by the minute, I'm afraid.

Jesus-H, you just keep getting more & more embarrassing with every post. I noticed Saad is endeavouring to tell you the same thing in the other thread, on Chavez.milmascaras1 wrote:irene,

I cannot shake the feeling we are dealing with another Chiricahua, here. Twelve, going on thirteen --- but a 240lb. Ju-jitsu expert online!
In all seriousness, you're not even one of those funny idiots we laugh at --- a Zelenoff, or TML. You're just sad. If it helps, I believe you about the 240lbs, though...now go & run the block, you slob

irene,
apparently you can't take a little ribbing you little puss face! and for your info, that 240 you're referring to is all muscle, baby! jesus, it seems like everything "offends" your little ass. what do you want me to do, put a little sugar on my threads from now on so you won't feel so threatened? and as far as that jiu-jitsu expert i was kidding about, don't worry. i'm not an expert at jiu-jitsu but i do hold a master's degree in giving your little royal aussie ass a nice little american beatdown! now, how's that for a comeback. AUSSIE AUSSIE OY OY!

You must have forgotten that Manny is afraid of blood. That doesn't bode well for him here.
Two actual in ring issues for pac would be that Duran would back him up from the opening bell and Roberto probably had the greatest and most accurate lead right hand in history.
Pac's speed and explosiveness would certainly make things exciting. But he isn't winning this one, not with all the juice in an NFL locker room.
