It might well be but I for one do not believe that Marquez would duck Khan, he has fought a who's who of boxing over the last 10yrs PAL.

apparently marquez is mad at gbp for treating him like shite. and claiming they are using him as a stepping stone for khan. marquez may well want the fight. but his trainer who is also his close friend doesn't want it so maybe marquezdeclined because of nacho? just like roach gets input on who his fighters should fight.

Dude, follow the link & read the article.

Nacho Beristain -- Marquez's trainer -- only wants JMM to fight on at lightweight. He says he opposes the Khan fight as it's at the wrong weight & the wrong type of opponent for his man coming off a bad loss. He goes on to say that Marquez should be treated with respect & not used as a stepping-stone to build a younger fighter's career.

I actually applaud the bloke. There's not many trainers willing to step up & speak honestly & compassionately for their bloke before a fight. Usuallly they're leading the cheer-leading squad about how the old dude is "Rejuvenated" or some such bollocks, & only come out with the "my bloke's too old & small for this weight" after the fight. It's refreshing.

& yes, I have been saying for weeks I don't wish to see JMM take on Khan. It's the wrong weight, it's the wrong part of his career & Khan's like a giant Chris John, all wrong for the Mexican. He deserves a last hurrah at his most effective weight, imo.

PS: I still give Khan credit for trying to make the fight, btw. I just don't want to see another proud old champ used in a cynical fashion.

Its a significant step up from Kotelnik and Salita - I think its a good match up.

Who knows what could happen here.Khan knows that paulie can't swat a fly, paulie knows that khans chin is made of china, paulie has a decent chin.Khan will go rushing in with nothing to fear and could get tagged,or maybe what will really happen is that khan will beat him on points or a late stoppage.

I didn't claim that -I said his coach didn't want the fight when you claimed team Khan did not want the fight!

I'm happy with the fight.

Malinaggi is of a good enough quality to make the fight worth watching, and let's not forget, Khan is only young so there is plenty of time for match ups against really dangerous opponents. He can't avoid them for ever

Malignaggi wont take the fight, he's showed to many signs of reluctance already. He bangs on about not wanting to be used as a stepping stone for Khan in his own back yard, but i can somewhat understand that as i too think Khan will step all over him if they ever fight.

It's quite a good fight, both have very good skills, fast hands and good fitness. It's an intresting fight to call, im going for Khan though winning on a close points decision.

Its not Maidana but I think its actually a better fight than Marquez who is just to small for light-welter.

Mallignagi is Khan's toughest opponent to date and it could be a great fight. Remember a lot of people on here picked him to beat Hatton and I thought he looked very good against Diaz in his last fight - proving he belongs at world class level. He may not have the power to stop Khan but I would think he hits a hell of a lot harder than Limond who is a complete powder puff puncher. Khan wont be able to run rings round him like he did to Kotelnik and will be made to work to beat Paulie.

I wouldnt fight khan if i was JMM, theres nothing in it for him it will be another Khan Barrera style fight. Thats why Khan v Hatton shouldnt happen.

x2

Maybe Paulie is no puncher ... but Khan has no chin. If Limond can get close, I`m sure Malignagi can do better.

Hatton Khan would be a good fight IMO, Hatton could snap Khan in half, not saying he would but he could, yeah he's lost two of his last 3 but they were against two of the best fighters in the last 30 years.

£100 on khan to win in 1st....i reckon it would be 20/1...and that would be a good bet

100 quid on Khan to beat Hatton in first or Malignaggi in first?

If Hatton is truly shot then could be a good bet, but if you meant PM then I can't see Khan putting him down in 12 rounds let alone the first. He's a tough nut thats for sure.
