Dilks vs Groves

Post by alexpaterson »

It says this will be the fight on the Haye vs Ruiz undercard. If so great fight made by very brave matchmakers! Does any of you think that this is to early for Groves or do you think he can win?

I think Groves will win. Dilks is a good fighter, but Groves looks a bit special. One thing is for sure, if Groves has any chinks in the armour Dilks will find them. Would anyone have Dilks winning anything further than a british title? Whereas Groves looks (albeit too early to say) like a world title contender.

hayes matching groves really tough here. Trying for De Gale, then taking Dilks.

Yep Hayemaker are pushing him hard, I think it will be a very tough fight for Groves but he will come through it, as you said Wales he does look a bit special. I think Dilks will have his moments using his experience to give Groves trouble but will lose a close decision imo

Dilks on his day will present a lot of problems for Groves

He's experienced, has a good chin, solid jab, and has been the full distance.

Dilks needs a bit of good luck after what he's endured so far, I hope he gets its on 3rd April

Thank you for that comment :TU:
on to the fight :bag: yes gents me to I think groves is abit special as I ave already said on another topic but I really feel I have got his measure. This time for the first time in my opinion groves will be in a proper fight no disrespect to anyone else he has boxed but I will be hitting bk wot will happen when he is put on the bk foot and wot happens when he has to dig deep an wot happens when he gets tagged flush on the whiskers? These are all questions I will ask of him in the fight. I now it will be a fast pace fight but I believe I will win otherwise I wouldn't be fighting looking forward to everyones opinions good and bad :TU:

I like alot about Groves, but there is quite a few mistakes in his defence , so far in his career he's had opponents mostly throwing single shots at him, or being very negative.

In Dilks he meets a guy who is confident and has his own ambitions, plus Dilks can fight going forward or back. I was impressed with how he kept to the game plan in his last fight (which he won IMO).

Full marks to Groves for taking this fight, looking forward to it.

It is a must win for carl, as he will fall down the pecking order if he loses, whereas iF groves loseS, people can still say he was in with quality too early, and he can bounce back from the loss.
more to lose for dilks than groves IMO

good luck carl, but i think you will have problems against groves.... he is potentially the hardest hitter you have faced, so its not just groves who is going to have problems, you too will be in one hell of a battle.

Out of interest did you face him, or any of the other "well publicised" switchover lads when you were amateur. Sutherland, de gale etc ...

yes very true mate. carl beat adamu by two rounds on my card. i think dilks coming forward will help groves and make him look class. groves is a counter-puncher. there are some defencive error's from groves but does dilks have the power to punish groves? i dont think so.

great match-up. hopefully this will have a cracking undercard..i see dilks nicking 1 or 2 rounds but i see groves outclassing him with his jab then stopping carl around the 7th round. well done to all parties making this fight.

what is the rush with groves???promoters like haye need there fighters to get titles quick to secure intrest for there bills.

i find this fight extremely intresting,i actually find dilks incredibly underated as a fighter he's two defeats were robbery's imo.he has good range a decent defense i like his boxing style as its very methodical.
groves excites me, BUT he's green, he tries emulating haye too much & may come unstuck late on in this fight, i see it as 50/50.

that seems the hayemaker way of doing things. would you rather groves be fighting a journeyman?? or a good fighter like dilks

Really excited about this match up.

I can see it going the full distance, where heart says Dilks just nicks it but head says Groves by a couple.

One thing is for sure, Groves can be hit, we've seen it happen, so try and push him back a bit Carl, don't leave it solely to your counter-punching!

Good luck mate, will be cheering you on.

Oh, and Carl can still come good if he does lose, becase Groves will undoubtedly go further pushing for world honours, and the British is well within Dilks' capabilities imo.

A good old fashioned match up.... even though Carl was robbed last time in a way its good to see him looking to EARN the rematch with Adamu by going through this tough looking ask against a prospect.

Good fight for both, and the fans.
