Nathan Cleverly!!
Excellent performance from clev. he seems ready for a world title but maybe have 1 defence of the ebu and get his maths degree out the way then go after the wbo. thoughts on his performance?

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
looked solid , convincing win there , made brancalion look a lot worse than he is .MrBoxingUK2 wrote:Excellent performance from clev. he seems ready for a world title but maybe have 1 defence of the ebu and get his maths degree out the way then go after the wbo
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
Cleverly should make a defense of the EBU against someone like Dawid Kostecki and then look to fight a world class opponent. There was really no doubt he was going to win tonight, Brancalion has no power and has lost to every decent guy he has faced. Cleverly's next bout should be against a live opponent who has some fire power. He is looking good against guys who don't pose to much of a threat.

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
ive posted the result over on current scene , lets see what the yanks are hearing over there about him .
we may be a bit over the top maybe as hes british but if hes getting any respect over there then maybe that will show if hes getting close to the world level fights

I think he is pretty unknown in the United States so you probably won't get to many responses.

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
No need to rush him, give him 1 or 2 decent defences of his euro title first and see how he does and gradually rise him through the higher ranked opponents and see where it takes him.
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
The boy did brilliant, nice to see Bomber at ringside 8) Also nice to see Tony not calling Clev out tonight
Come on Clev USA next son....

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
he's stepping up well, stopping the african commonwealth challengers, wiping the floor with mcintosh in the british title fight and now stopping a guy for the EBU title.
i thought he would stop scoring TKOs/KOs when they stopped brnging in little african fighters.
however, brancalion is not a factor on the world scene. cleverly is making excellent progress, it appears. however the current sceners will not be interested - yet.

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
Now he's got the EBU I'd rather see him try the WBC route or one of the other big one's, he's good a few fights off being ready for that yet though. Be good to see him have a few fights in the US too.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:Excellent performance from clev. he seems ready for a world title but maybe have 1 defence of the ebu and get his maths degree out the way then go after the wbo. thoughts on his performance?

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
reminds me of Froch a bit, but not as reckless with the defence, and definitely quicker. I think he may well end up hitting harder too, it's clear he has pretty devastating power. That Italian had a great chin, but he got taken apart.
Another three or four fights against good opposition, then lets let him have a crack at a world title.
what I like most about cleverly, is his economy, he doesn't throw many shots that miss, and he doesn't throw many measurers either.
I think Cleverly is going all the way,

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
WBO title looks fairly open. the champ braehmer can't defend as he's been sent to prison. erdei gave that title up, but will probably want it back.
should cleverly target erdei, a very good boxer who's getting on a bit and coming down in weight after a gruelling win for the WBC cruiserweight title?

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
I think from here on in Cleverly is going to just get better and better, he looks ready now to be honest to fight for a title, but in three or four fights, provided they are against opposition who are going to test him, he'll be even more ready. The danger is that he doesn't get a shot and is put in keep busy fights and he goes backward slightly or becomes overconfident from blowing away limited opposition,
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
Com on guys Nath is old school, he fights whoever is put in front of him and keeps busy. Every time he has been asked to step up a notch he does, personaly I would love him to win his Lonsdale outright and then go for a world title.
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
He looked good last night but would love to see how he fairs against someone who can bang.
Great stoppage, but Brancalion had no defense and was there for the taking.

Interesting situation re Braehmer - he has appealed and is scheduled to fight and defend his title on April 24th it will be interesting to see his opponent because the Germans won't want to lose the title when it becomes vacant so I wonder if they will let Erdei face off with Braehmer so as they at least either keep it or get Erdei in a vacant belt fight if Braehmer goes down after the appeal.
Don't think Cleverly beats Cloud to be honest and he certainly ain't beating Dawson or Pascal, in my book anyway, although I think he has done terrific to do it the old school way Briti/Comm/Euro, few defences and another year down the line things may look very different.
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
is there anywhere I could find the fight online? I like how active Cleverly is in moving up through the ranks seems very willing to fight the best.

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
Cleverly really impressed me, he came out very calm and picked his shots very nicely. Brancalion was there to be hit all night long but Clev didnt get over-excited and picked his shots nicely and score an impressive stoppage
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
Brahmer is getting jail, Clev done well, I'd never have called him out last night, It was his night and he deserved to enjoy it.. Doesn't need some scouse mouth shouting off when the fight is nowhere near happening..
I will say this though I hope he's kept away from the serious punchers in the division cos he looked easy to get at last night BUT maybe he knew Brancilion couldn't hit?? I hope he wouldn't use them tactics against the likes of a Brahmer...

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
I was thinking the same in the first couple of rounds. He was getting tagged by Brancalion's left hook, but fortunately for Clev it lacked power.
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
He has flaws to be ironed out before he challenges the likes of Erdei, that's for sure. In a year or so he'll be ready, I reckon.
Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
I've been a fan of Cleverly since his early fights - he keeps on improving and was excellent last night...
Another 12-18 months to keep improving and he'll be ready for a World Title i'm sure.

Re: Nathan Cleverly!!
no point in that mate when a purse for the british title will be around 20k and the european anything from 40-60k. plus there is nobody at domestic level for cleverlytaffytoon wrote:Com on guys Nath is old school, he fights whoever is put in front of him and keeps busy.
