Gym Fighters

Post by johnty1888 »

Some fighters are reputed to be amazing in the gym, but for whatever reason don't reproduce their form for real. Danny Williams is an example, but we did get a glimpse of what he can do against Tyson. Can you think of any others...?

Merthyr`s Simon Collins.
I am not saying he was world class but he was 100 times better in the gym than he was come fight time.

There was a documentary on BBC Wales a few years back on Dai Gardiner and he showed one of his fighters with a 0-14 record at the time. Gardiner said he would hold his own in heavy sparring with his better fighters - Gardiner couldn't understand it.

The fighter he was talking about was probably Andrew Bloomer. He still trains at the gym and spars with the guys.

I was there the night a teenage Naseem Hamed stopped Bloomer on the undercard of the first Benn V Malinga fight in Birmingham.

Didn't the BBBofC try to takes Bloomers licemce away from him soon after that?
