How do you think he would have done in that rematch with Eddie Gregory that almost took place? (He of course went by the name Mustafa Muhammad by that time)

What is he doing lately?

Everyone described him as a likable guy.

The same night Braxton beat Matt the second time Braxton's manager and trainer Wesley Mouzon said to me (I can't remember what we were talking about)
"He's a nice guy," in reference to Matt, and then repeated that.

I remember being a little puzzled at why he would say that, since he was the manager of Matt's opponent who worked to beat him.

I always heard the first fight was a bad decision I saw both guys fight against diff opponents and from what I saw Eddie was to lazy to beat SaaD,Saad by easy decision

His bout against Yaqui Lopez tells a lot. In equally determined efforts, his heart won the battle. Despite a fierce battle, at the end I believe Lopez said "he just wanted it more".

I attended the rematch between Muhammad (Matt Franklin at the time) and Marvin Camel in Missoula, MT. It was a hometown decision in favor of Camel in that one. When Franklin's corner attempted to lodge a protest, it couldn't happen because the officials from the Montana State Athletic Association had left for home well before the end of the bout.

He was a very good fighter. I loved his fights with Kates it was back and for, he showed a very good chin and very good power and recovery to come back and win

One opinion that has been floated in this forum is that he was not as good a boxer as he was a genuinely rugged individual with a great chin and a lot of pop.

Shockingly, I was a huge fan. Grew up watching his heroic comebacks in one of the better era for Light Heavyweights and I think Saad earned the right to be called a great fighter. Nobody was tougher.

The guy was just involved in so many great fights against very tough men, it was a crying shame that he ended up being a stepping stone for fighters who he would have demolished a few years earlier.

I'll tell you this much about him. Every time I saw his name coming up, I attempted to watch his fights, listen to his fights, or read about his fights as soon as possible.

Yeah, it's difficult to imagine anything worse. You know it's bad when it takes being abandoned to a new level. You could tell that he decided nothing could ever hurt him after that.
