Actually I thought Jesus beat issac at the ringside. it was a close fight though. And he has beat jhon franklin before at state. very skilled kid up and coming. He went to the U-19 for the tournament, but came up a day short to compete. So he steped up to warren since nobody else would.
Ringside and boxing a 2-time Olympian and World Champion are two complety different things. I respect the desire to step in but his coach should gated that one.

Didn't Warren lose at the 2006 Ringside Tournament?

Yeah, I think that was the one that he lost. I wasn't there though, but I "heard" that he clearly lost. He lost to Magdalena too at the USA's, I just didn't think that he should have lost it the way he did. Magdalena scored 3pts in the last 20 seconds to Warren not scoring any in the last minutes - I'm going off memory, but that's the part I didn't agree with. It was a close bout, but Warren wasn't really doing enough and later blamed the judges and USA Boxing. I think he wasn't taking Magdalena seriously. Just my opinion.

I think those are the only two losses in the last 5 years that he's had in the US in many years. I could be wrong, but I think so. He lost to Raul Castaneda in Atl at Titan games via Walkover in 2004. That same year McWilliam Arroyo in US/PR dual in NJ 22-23 and Austreberto Juarez in USAs that year too 13-15. Other losses were in international bouts like Olympics, World Cup (to Rigo 2-time Gold Medalist) and duals.

Yeah I saw the match at the USA's, and yes up 17 to 10 with a half a round left you should be able to hold the lead but still Jesus did everything to win and was able to. I remember the Austroberto fight at 106, he was like 20 years old and I believe it was Warren's first 17 open tournament and Austroberto was the ranked number 1 guy in nation, between him and Rayonta Whitfield were the favorites for the Olympics, but Warren went instead. So did Jesus Vasquez receive any standing 8 counts... knock downs... and was it decision?

he had I think two eight counts and finally his coach threw in the towel. in the 3rd I believe. 1st round warren came out hard with pressure like he wanted to stop him. 2nd round he backed off and didn't do much, 3rd he came back out to stop him and did. I may have video of it, but I'm not putting it up.

The 2010 Under-19 National Champions are Crowned in Cincinnati

(CINCINNATI, OHIO) - Eleven national champions were crowned on Friday night at the 2010 Under-19 National Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ten men's final round bouts and one female championship contest took place on the final day of competition at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati.

The boxers in the light flyweight division experienced more excitement than they bargained for with a fire alarm going off in the second round, causing a brief stoppage. Yet that didn't deter Carlos Suarez (Lima, Ohio) from his mission in the light flyweight final round bout with Rondarrius Hunter (Atlanta, Ga.). Suarez grabbed the first lead in the bout and built it out throughout the three rounds despite the brief interruption and point deductions from both boxers. Suarez won a 15-7 decision over Hunter to win the light flyweight crown.

Emmanuel Folly (Philadelphia, Pa.) put on an impressive performance in his championship round bout with David Carlton (Cincinnati, Ohio). Folly controlled the first two rounds of the bout, moving out to a 10-1 lead after the second. Yet Carlton remained aggressive and began scoring points in the third round, but Folly kept up his own output as well and went on to win a 22-6 final decision and the flyweight title.

The momentum swung throughout the bantamweight title bout between Emonte Scruggs (Dayton, Ohio) and David Rios (Edinburg, Texas). Scruggs took a slim 5-3 lead after a closely contested opening round but turned up the head in the second to claim a 13-8 advantage with one round remaining. Rios came storming back in the third, pulling the bout within two points but Scruggs held on to win a 15-13 victory and the bantamweight crown.

Luis Angel Zarazua (Edinburg, Texas) kept his bout with Luis Feliciano (Milwaukee, Wis.) close in the first round with Feliciano holding a slim 5-4 lead. Yet those four points were all that Zarazua would score. Feliciano continued to add to his own point total throughout the next six minutes and went on to win a 13-4 final decision and the featherweight title.

Ryan Martin (Chattanooga, Tenn.) won his first Under-19 title with a victory over Antonio Capulin (Houston, Texas) in their lightweight championship bout. Martin got off to a quick start in the bout and never looked back. He held Capulin scoreless in the first round and enjoyed a 9-1 lead as the final round began before moving out to a 14-4 final decision victory.

In light welterweight action, George Rincon (Dallas, Texas) put on a defensive clinic, holding his opponent David Moore (Milwaukee, Wis.) scoreless throughout the nine minutes of action. Rincon enjoyed his strongest offensive round in the first, scoring seven points to take a 7-0 lead after the first. He pushed his advantage to a 10-0 margin at the end of two before winning a 12-0 final decision.

The lone women's title bout was contested in the welterweight division as Maria Norton Baumer (Cincinnati, Ohio) faced Sariah Edwards (Lexington, Ky.). Edwards took the first lead in the bout and held a 5-3 lead after one, but Baumer grabbed the advantage in the second and with strong crowd support behind her, held on to her lead throughout the bout. She pushed her edge to 17-10 after three rounds and held Edwards scoreless in the final round to win the 24-10 final decision.

The men's welterweight title bout featured one of the closest contests of the evening with Alantez Fox (Forrestville, Md.) taking on Moshea Aleem (Richmond, Va.). It was Aleem grabbing the slim 5-4 lead after the first round, but a low-scoring second round pulled the bout to a 5-5 tie with one round remaining. The bout was up for grabs in the third and Fox decided to reach out and take it, outscoring Aleem by a 3-1 margin to win the 8-6 decision and the welterweight title.

The middleweight bout showcased a highly anticipated match-up between Dimitrius Ballard (Temple Hills, Md.) and Daquan Arnett (Orlando, Fla.). Ballard enjoyed the early momentum in the bout, using his advantage and boxing to take a 14-8 lead after two rounds. Arnett came out firing in the final round, looking to overcome his six point deficit. Arnett made a valiant effort but Ballard wouldn't be deterred and won a 21-17 final decision and the middleweight title.

The string of Washington DC area boxers continued into light heavyweight action as Jerry Odom (Bowie, Md.) faced Trevor McCumby (Yorkville, Ill.) for the Under-19 title. Yet Odom's night didn't go as well as the first two athletes from the nation's capitol. McCumby poured on the points from the opening bell and Odom couldn't match his opponent's output. He held a 17-7 lead at the end of the second and although Odom came out throwing punches in bunches, he couldn't penetrate his opponent's advantage. McCumby won a 21-11 final decision and the light heavyweight crown.

A heavyweight title bout between Joshua Temple (St. Louis, Missouri) and Timothy Moten (Louisville, Ky.) closed 2010 Under-19 National Championships action. Temple showcased an impressive performance, claiming an 8-0 lead after the first and pushing it to an 11-2 margin after two. Yet the bout didn't go to a decision as Temple stopped Moten in the third to take the victory and the heavyweight championship.

Dimitrius Ballard (Temple Hills, Md.) and Maria Norton Baumer (Cincinnati, Ohio) were named Outstanding Boxers of the tournament.

The evening concluded with a feature bout showcasing two-time Olympian Rau'shee Warren (Cicinnati, Ohio) and Jesus Vasquez (Denver, Colo.). Cincinnati Olympians Ron Siler (2004) and Timothy Austin (1992 bronze medalist) were on hand at ringside to take in the action and support the young boxers looking to follow in their footsteps.

Im not sure on that one he might of lost to galvadon idk. but he was at the regional 4 corners I know that.

Well if your goal is to say you stepped in the ring w/ that caliber of boxer and that's all you are shooting for -- mission accomplished. You accomplished that after the first round, so what was the rest of the bout for? I wouldn't have put him in there if he was my boxer, that's all I'm saying. Courage doesn't win bouts and neither does a resume. If you saw the bout, what would you say the boxer accomplished? What technically did he even have a chance to work on? What would you say to him when you're watching the video? Maybe I missed something. As as coach, I would NOT put my newly turned open boxer w/ 30 bouts against Raushee Warren. Period. Call me crazy. I guess I'm the only one here who feels that way.

Yeah, I agree with DC. It was just a complete mismatch. It was just a fight for Warren to impress HIS crowd. The guy was losing like 20-2 after the second round and he got rocked bad a few times. I kinda felt sorry for the guy. If I was his coach, I would of been stopped it. The guy has heart to take that fight though but the fight was simply made for Warren to impress his people from his native city, and he did.

I'm a Warren fan, but I just don't see how that's impressive. Now with that being said, it's got to be really hard for him to find matches especially at home, so I guess that's the thought behind it. If he wants fam/friends to see him box, he's got to take whatever he can. I didn't see scoring, but 20-2 sounds exactly like what I saw. Tough kid but that doesn't win bouts or make for a good longterm plan. I wish him the best, but he needs to build up before that kind of a match. I am trying to get vids of the other bouts from the tourney though and I'll post in this thread when I do.

I don't blame Rau'shee. The only way I would have a problem with it is if there were tougher opponents available and he just wanted an easy fight. I doubt that was the case. How many good boxers are available in his weight class.

Yes, that's what I meant by the earlier post. That's why there are coaches - to help make those decisions. These are men we are talking about but that's a coaches job.

well from what I heard. They were trying to find a fight for warren a 119 pounder. ther were not many 119 pounders the other one that they were considering to fight warren was #4 ranked boxer gabriel montoya from wyoming. Last time he fought warren he got beat bad RSC. so either way I think rau shee would of had an easy night. no disrespect to jesus or gabe they both good fighters.

Rau'shee needs to decide what weight class he will box at in the 2010 USA's - 114 or 123. I hope he elects 114 as I think he would do better internationally at that weight.
