Team De Gale or Team Groves

Post by Wales »

Following De Gales "George.... errrm.... Groves? oh that ugly ginger kid" comment on Saturday I forsee boxing forums up and down the country being split on who they're backing.

So, who's it going to be boxrecers?

Personally Im opting for Team De Gale. Chunky looks like he's going to be the real deal. He can box, he can bang - cant wait for him to step up. I do see Warren putting him in with the man who beat the man groves is fighting next (Adamu over Dilks) as a statement of anything you can do...

Im definetly with Groves. He seems a nice guy and a very talented boxer (I feel he has adapted faster to the pro's). I doubt Warren will put DeGale in with Adamu he needs a tough fight before that with a domestic level fighter imo.

But Team Groves all the way :TU:

Agree with that, I like the prospects of both and just want to see it made - not just yet though.

I like watching them both.

Groves, because he has an agressive pro style and is all business.

Degale, because he is a harmless plonker who makes me laugh/cringe with equal measure! :OhYes:

My mate watched the replay today and when i was making a cuppa he shouted "what is that prat doing?!!" immeadiately i knew what he was referring to, so went back in the front room and there on the TV was Chunky dancing in front of his changing room mirror, before then cocking-up his flashy pad routine !

I think it will build and there will be a laugh or two along the way.

Maybe Groves needs to do a silly dance for the camera in his changing room, before coming out to a 'Georgy' song next :D

Either way it will be a laugh.

Team Degale even though he came across as a prat on saturday

Groves is the most overhyped prospect of the lot in terms of forum fanfare. I thought he was the 2nd coming of mike tyson the way people on here/esb spoke about him

And if thats not bad enough, offering degale 50k when they would probably be aware that he is on more just smacks of smalltime, pathetic publicity stunt

I hope degale stands him on his head then knocks him out,ala Martinez v Stone/Williams 2

Groves, all the way. He's a sound lad, and on top of that - the better prospect IMO.

Degale being a class A dick doesn't help his case.

I actually like them both. Groves is the harder puncher whilst DeGale is more of a slickster. Very different styles and personalities. I think for them to fight now would be a bit stupid to be honest as this is a rivalry that could definitely be built up over the next couple of years and a big money fight for the British or even a world title could be in the offing.

I'm not convinced Groves' team were totally serious in making the fight this early to be honest. Adam Booth is an intelligent guy and he knows as well as Warren does that this fight could be massive later on and make a lot more money then than now.

As for who would win, I think it is a difficult one to call at this stage as neither fighter has been in with anyone really decent yet and each has a lot of developing to do. That said, I really do think DeGale will win a world title and would say he is the slightly better prospect at the moment although I really like Groves also.

If it's just who we're supporting, I'm with Groves! If it's down to who we think will go further, I'm also sitting on the fence. I think DeGale will be spoon fed, if that's the right phrase. He'll have a much easier time than DeGale due Warren.

Groves, top chap, down to earth and likeable.

DeGale - embarassingly cringey, irritating, disrespectful.

Groves to spark him out in 8 :box:

I cant see how they could be paying £100k a fight to degale, no chance !!

I'd be very surprised if it's near £50k i really would.

I like DeGale as a boxer, but the way he carries himself is cringeworthy. I watched the fights last Saturday with a mate who doesn't really follow boxing and he said 'Who is that tosser?' Which is how he is portraying himself. He is behaving like he is world class. Have some humility. Groves seems like a decent bloke.
