He looked impressive, this proves he can mix at world level.
But, I think he has a few areas he needs to improve on, maybe he was woring at too high of a pace in the early rounds, at times he looked a bit tired out, unable to put the punches together as well in the mid rounds.
Showboating, no thanks, looking away from your opponent to the crowd.
He needs a few more fights at this sort of level, he is not quite ready for the very top just yet but tonight was a good fight to build on.

I said a win would place him above Hatton, I've changed my mind based on the manner of the win. Hatton has fought similar (if a LITTLE lower) class oposition and never lost a round.
If it wasn't for the KD, Witter would have rightfully lost.
Huge stamina problems there by the looks of things. I don't know if it was the occasion or whatever, but he was trying to bomb out N'dou from the opening bell with huge shots. Those that miss takes alot out of you, and it did Witter.
Based on that performance, I don't think Ricky will have much problems at all. Especially the intensity Hatton sets, survives the opening four rounds and I think its will be the Manchester's fight. Witter did display a good chin, but the Stamina is a huge question.
Junior does make the UK P4P top ten based on that win though.

Hang on a minute Stu. Show me any other lightwelter that could stand up to that kind of single shot power? Hatton? Not in a million years. And he WOULD catch Hatton with those unorthodox shots. N'Dou pushed Cotto and Mitchell close and took Cotto's best shots for 12 rounds without going down. I think Witter had him ready to quit in the 11th but was either too tired or didn't want to risk it. Witter would be a huge danger for anyone, at least in the first half of the fight when he's still fresh and you haven't figured him out yet.
Before I get criticised for being to critical in my first post. Let me set it straight, he looked like the best Light Welter in the World in the opening 5 rounds.
Its the stamina that the worry and the fact that there was no reason why he should have run out so rapidly because he was controling the action. He won't be vs Hatton.
But yes, THIS DOES PROVE HE IS WORLD CLASS and worthy of a world title fight - so well done.

he just did 12 rounds against a notorious hard worker.... i think you are over reacting just a tad...stujones wrote:

huge stamina problems no..... better judge of pace needed YES!!!
its only his 2nd 12 rounder so he is really still a little inexperienced at the distance.... he will only improve from here

Don't think so, just went straight into round 1 and I hadnt even ordered it. Saw the first 5 rounds for free.lirva33 wrote:setanta are a fuckin joke. i tuned on at 1am as it said on the sky planner and it was already round 4. fornicate sakes.
did they show the ring walks and the announcement of naes of the fighters???
Possibly, I hope your right. Perhaps I was a bit more worried than everyone else that N'dou would stop him. My worry was that Witter was having it all his own way in the opening period - and neither Cotto or Mitchell tired like that vs N'dou.knockout wrote:he just did 12 rounds against a notorious hard worker.... i think you are over reacting just a tad...stujones wrote:

This fight just showed me why Hatton has been avioding him for years, He is a far better fighter than Hatton and would stop him within a few rounds.stujones wrote:Before I get criticised for being to critical in my first post. Given how much TV companies pay for fights it never seems to amaze me there is no synchronization regarding what time bouts start. I've lost count of the amount of times I've got up at 4am for a fight and either missed the first part or had to wait an hour. Even had to set off for work before fights are over!

Witter has one punch power where Hatton dosn't, Hatton is very open and i don't think he has the chin that Ndou has.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Witter leaves his chin out to dry too much, Hatton would be busier and move better than N'dou, and unless Witter gets him early, I don't think he would cope with Hatton's pace.

I wouldn't say that beating N'Dou makes Witter anywhere near worldclass. N'Dou is a good name for all of the better fighters at Welter to have on their record. But in truth he isn't anymore than an average fighter with a good chin, and good heart.
As said already on this topic, Hatton has fought similar fighters to N'Dou and hasn't given them a round. Witter's performance rates no higher than Hattons against Stewart, Phillips, or Tackie. Junior deserves the credit he'll get from this fight, he overcame his first real test since Judah.
But i can't see him ever really looking competitive at true world level, against the likes of Tszyu, Mayweather, Hatton, Cotto etc.
