im sorry i was just bored im truly sorry if i offended anyone. im being honest now i have experienced trouble at boxing in sunderland at the haskins v burkinshaw fight and the burkinshaw fans started on us and we got kicked out by the police and they followed us back to the hotel room. there was about 50 of them and 18 of us but they went when we got in the room.

i have to disagree with you all i think that there is nothing wrong with people starting trouble at boxing events. we do it because it shows how much we support our favourite fighters and where we are from. THIS IS NO JOKE.

All the more reason to not want trouble at boxing shows or anywhere. Boxing is a noble and respected sport, you and those like you are not respected so you have no right to be at boxing shows. Idiot

I know there has been bits of trouble recently but when you consider the "elements" that are often at boxing, each boxers "boisterious" fans (some of which could have rivalries from other boxers area etc), local gangsters/hardmen, football hooligans who've attached themselves to a boxer etc I dont think its too bad, we dont have to worry too much imo, yes there are sporadic incidents of violence but mostly they can be avoided if your just there for the boxing.

Would have to disagree with it "was the Welsh fans that made the noise all night" the Walsh followers hardly shut up and both the Olympians and Kevin had a good reception. I do agree though that the banter was harmless and quite funny

I was in the pub on Saturday and a midget came in and gave two pakistani lads a right mouthfull of abuse. I thought to myself "thats a little racist".

Funny attitude that. I've been going to football all my life, up and down the country, I couldn't even begin to add up how many games. And I have never once felt threatened whilst watching a match. But I worked at the M.E.N during two fights, and there was dick heads every where, drunk and being aggressive in a way I've never seen at a football match.

It's boxing fan snobbery which is spreading like mad, I've never felt threatened at a football match either but had to put up with allsorts of crap at boxing events which is why I never go anymore.

I have followed Newcastle up and down the country (believe it or not and for my sins). The only places Ive felt threatened was Everton and maine Road.

Also been abroad with them, thats a different kettle of fish. Milan (or middlesbrough with a gucci shop) was a hell hole. Also the police in barcelona were a nightmare.

Yes it is, after the abortion that was the 80's where fans turned up in their hordes just for a fight the police had to do something about it and while there is still trouble on occasions it's nowhere near as bad as it was back then.

Boxing isn't as bad as it used to be either but I feel more threatened at a boxing event than a football one because a fair amount of punters at a boxing event are pissed, my dad told me about all the gangs who'd follow boxers in the 70's and 80's and kick off with rival fans and of course the infamous Hagler-Minter fight although thankfully we don't see it like that anymore. However all trouble at boxing events seems to be attributed to "football fans" when really it's just dickheads who want to cause trouble.

We had a lot of trouble in Madrid when we played Atletico away in the uefa cup a few years ago, the police were a joke. But that had nothing to do with rival fans.

Foreign coppers are sometimes worse than the people who they are trying to control.
