Was that Boxrec's own David Payne who got his e-mail read out on Ringside tonight?

Commontating on the fact that the WBU route may not be the best for British fighters.

:TU: :TU: :TU:

I was a little shocked the read it out actually.

Yep, I'm spartacus.

I missed the programme - how did the panel answer/handle the question?

Does the panel feel Michael Gomez's defeat is a prelude to further disappointment for British fighters this year and a reflection of how poorly the peripheral WBU/WBF type belts prepare our fighters for genuine World-Class opponents?

And if so, would the panel agree that a return to the traditional pursuit of British, Commonwealth and European honours is a more valid and worthy route?

Nelson agreed with you, the rest nodded their heads, then they went on to talk about how all the shit belts were great too. Read into that what you will.

I think Nelson basically clocked it: the traditional roiute is better, but the lower belts can be an opportunity to put food on the table and make house payments.

There seemed to be rather a lot of Nelson saying something while Spencer and McCrory nodded. Nelson seems to have become the dominant force on Sky's boxing coverage, which is no bad thing. He knows what he's talking about, and the more he talks, the less we have to listen to Dempsey being forced to cater for the more simple-minded viewer.

I hope Nelson keeps doing the straight talking, I was very dissapointed in Glenn McCrory last time out, when he basically said that Polo 'didn't do enough to take a champion's title.' Did he really believe that after watching Harrison reel around the ring getting pelted from all angles?

The same McCrory who said 'for one night only Tyson could turn the clock back'

Before Lewis tore him up like a non-Bounty kitchen roll dipped in troublesome bolagnese sauce.....

That was shcking.

Mind you, his freebie trips have been pulled....

McCrory's my hot tip to be on next year's Celebrity Fat Club as well.

I actually get the impression that they try and use guys like Oliver more because Nelson makes so much sense when he says things, he just closes out a discussion.
