Witter signs for oscar and broke his hand aginst N'Dou.

Junior broke his hand earley on in the fight this is why he stopped throwing punches, it was nothing to do with him being tired.

If he hadn't broken his hand i think he would have stopped N'Dou.

Goldenboy promotions have confirmed they have signed junior witter on a 3 fight deal, which should get him some good publicity in america and a big fight.

Tiredness was also a factor, you could tell by his movements.

Sure, but he will get better and will have learnt a lot from that. He would have stopped any other LW with those punches he landed early on in the bout.

NO I DONT THINK SO MW.
from what ive read he will let de la hoya handle the US promotions but still be involved and be in total charge of Junior in europe / britain.

Bearing in mind he has just broken his hand it is feasible he has a warm up before his big push later this year towards world in honours

guess it depends how long he is out with the hand injury.

Well, I seem to recall that Hennessy was promoting him on a fight by fight basis, he hadn't signed a long term contract if I remember correctly. I would have thought the deal must involve Hennessy in some way though.

Oscar De La Hoya has praised Junior Witter, comparing the Bradford fighter to former stablemate Naseem Hamed.

Witter could face a shot at WBC champion Arturo Gatti after beating South African Lovemore N'Dou on points in Los Angeles.

After watching Witter knock N'Dou down twice on the way to a successful defence of his Commonwealth light-welterweight title, De La Hoya said: "Now I can see why nobody wants to fight Junior Witter because not only does he have a punch but he fights until the end.

"He is now a mandatory contender for the Gatti belts and that is the next move. Junior presents an interesting fight.

"He reminded me of Naseem Hamed and we all know that Naseem Hamed is a superstar in America.

"Now you bring Junior Witter against Arturo Gatti at 140lbs and you will have a mega-fight, and that is what we are looking for now. Junior Witter is ready to fight anybody."

De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions have snapped up Witter on a three-fight co-promoting deal but any big world title shot will be delayed whilst the Yorkshireman recovers from a fractured left hand suffered during the fight.

I actually think that this performance leapfrogs JW over Hatton. A decent performance under difficult circumstances ( broken hand ) against a quality, if slightly shopworn opponent. Hatton was at this point about 2 1/2 years ago and has let it slide backwards

if/when Hatton loses to KT, he will be the one turning up at ringside calling JW out. That'll be funny

i must admit i wasn't sure about witter until i saw him batter that italian a couple of fights back.i can understand why hatton's been ducking him...he deserves a crack at a title,

I agree.

I would still favour Hatton to beat Witter though. Witter looks disorganised when he is pressured. Early on, I'd give him a good chance to stop Hatton, but if Hatton survives the first 4 rounds, which is no certainty give Witter's power, then I think he starts to disorganise Witter and breaks him down.

yeah, it's still a close one to call. I just about favour JW, but ask me tomorrow and...............

The shame is, that with RH landing a big fight and JW a good promotional deal, this fight is futher away from happening than ever

If Hatton does pull a rabbit out of the hat and beat KT, he is not going to put it on the line for a fight with JW who could beat him. If he loses to KT, then JW doesn't need him now he has 3 fights in the US to build his profile

I can see this one happening way down the line when they are both past their best. At that point, I see JW winning easily as he has a style that will age well while RH will burn out like McGuigan did

Had a look at the Henessey page earlier today and Witter gets NO mention after the weigh in.....just Eastman. Trouble at mill, maybe.

I saw in another artical that the deal was signed in partnership with MH. The artical said that this made hennessy a true rival to FW.

Hatton is a lot younger though at 26, and Witter relies on his reflexes too much, he never has his hands up. In 2-3 years time, Witter will be slowing down, and Hatton will still only be 28-29, depending on what has happened he may still be near his peak.

I think Hatton's style of fighter peaks much younger.

Although JW's style is all reflexes, Hatton's swarming all action style gets old pretty quickly.

To be honest, I think the peak for both of them is now and in the next 18 months. After that, their respective styles both predicate a slide. who slides most by the time they finally get to meet will decide who wins

Hatton will slide first ,he doesnt live the life of a fighter and that will catch up with him.
