How come it is not yet on Virgin?G0mez wrote:No virgin yet, but otherwise some big strides being made behind the scenes and all will come out in the wash.
Is this Virgin situation likely to be sorted out for this PPV?

I withdraw my original post congratulating MH on his progress. This is terrible news. No virgin is virgin' on the pathetic (scuse the pun)G0mez wrote:Unlikely mate.Horse wrote:How come it is not yet on Virgin?G0mez wrote:No virgin yet, but otherwise some big strides being made behind the scenes and all will come out in the wash.

All i know is, that most of Nottingham has Virgin, what with their HQ being there !
Virgin vans on every street corner. Where Froch's biggest demographic is too.

Well, i wouldn't be pinning any hopes on it.RLewis wrote:They said at the presser that they expect to be available on Virgin and that was being negotiated now.
WOW froch vs kessler not worthy of ppv?? are you mad..if you know boxing you will knw this has the potential to be foty!!! the undercard will most probly be crap. but the main event will be great.glahn wrote:Jesus, I appreciate any channel picking up boxing at this moment in time, but if it's on Primetime I won't be watching it. I want to support the business but I'm never going to pay PPV priced for something I don't think is a PPV fight. And as far as I'm concerned, there's only a very small number of PPV fights out there in boxing right now.
Me too.leforge wrote:I be gutted if this is not on Virgin.
The point is though that for PPV to work, even a terrific fight like this one, it needs to be marketed. That means having the cross promotion to get the fight known via free platforms, which is where this falls down. I'm a boxing fanatic and I can't even remember what sky channel primewhatsit is.MrBoxingUK2 wrote: WOW froch vs kessler not worthy of ppv?? are you mad..if you know boxing you will knw this has the potential to be foty!!! the undercard will most probly be crap. but the main event will be great.
X2, you just can't please some people! The same people would be the ones moaning if we had to watch it on a 24hr delay as well....... my Mother moans less than the average Boxrec poster (and she don't stop).llamalew wrote:cant see what the problem is with primetime. yes i knw it won't do big numbers mate but i was making a point that the fight is worth the money.chinny wrote:The point is though that for PPV to work, even a terrific fight like this one, it needs to be marketed. If the fight was on SBO then you better believe Froch would be on Sky News, Soccer am, SSN and so on.
This will not do well on primetime, which is a real shame.
you are wrong mate. sky quite often write about froch.winkveron wrote:I've got a feeling now this will be on Sky. Not on PPV becuase it's sandwiched in between Haye & Khan. The reason why I get this feeling is because there is a story on Sky sports News plugging the fight, and as we know, Sky don't plug stuff that has nothing to do with them. Plus Mick announced some sort of TV deal is in the pipeline. Could be completely wrong but it's just a hunch! Here's the story...

Why will there be limited press coverage? There was a fair bit in the tabloids promoting the Dirrell fight and that was when the MH-Primetime combo was in its infancyBIGMARK wrote:i'm happy we're getting the chance to see it but this being on Primetime is another nail in the coffin of the sport. I'm sure the people at Primetime are trying their best but the point is it will get very limited coverage in the press or TV when if Mick had done a deal with ITV or Sky it would. Its a shame this isnt on SBO as they would hype the $hit out of it and make sure it was getting daily press through the newspapers and their news channels. The only peope who will watch this will be us boxing fans and that's only the ones that Primetime can offer a service to.Chambers2 wrote:X2, you just can't please some people! I'm surprised that Ward v Green is on the same night as Bute v Miranda on HBO, I'd have thought that would have been moved to the 24th along with Froch v Kessler.Deno1986 wrote:Abraham-Dirrell has been moved to the end of March according to Big Ben on the CS.Smit wrote:Not likely, Abraham v Dirrell has been postponed due to a back injury for DirrellMightyWarrior wrote:Bargain, and Abraham too did I hear?
Ward - Green is on the 17th of April [Froch-Kessler original date]
Froch - Kessler is on the 24th of April.
It would make sense to move it to the 24th but when has boxing ever made sense!chrisfinch wrote:I'm surprised that Ward v Green is on the same night as Bute v Miranda on HBO, I'd have thought that would have been moved to the 24th along with Froch v Kessler.Deno1986 wrote:Abraham-Dirrell has been moved to the end of March according to Big Ben on the CS.Smit wrote: Not likely, Abraham v Dirrell has been postponed due to a back injury for Dirrell
