Stanislav Ivanovich Stepashkin wrote his name in the history of amateur boxing after winning Olympic title in Tokyo at featherweight division. He won four of his bouts by spectacular KO’s and was one of the favorites for “Val Barker cup”, which finally was awarded to his fellow countryman Valery Popenchenko.
Stepashikin won twice European championships (1993, 1965) and three times national championships (1963, 1964 and 1965).
He was born on 1st September 1940 and started with boxing at 15 age. He fought 204 times, winning 193 times (60 times KO). During his career he received a lot of awards and medals from Russian government and boxing federation.
