Joe Frazier Training(1971)
Re: Joe Frazier Training(1971)
Joe, Yank, and Eddie. That was a helluva a team. Futch gave more trouble to Ali than anyone.
Re: Joe Frazier Training(1971)
Here is also some footage of Muhammad Ali at the Miami Beach 5th Street Gym training for the same fight.

Re: Joe Frazier Training(1971)
Yank Durham was right on top of Frazier every moment while Frazier hit the heavy bag, watching him like a hawk. Interesting.
Durham wasn't there for Frazier after the first Frazier-Ali fight. He died before their second fight.

Hard not to enjoy Frazier, Buzz.BoxBuzz wrote:Watch the Frazier Ramos fight, a buzzsaw at work.
Even us "clueless insects" can enjoy his skills.

Frazier-Ramos is one of my favorite Frazier fights.BoxBuzz wrote:Watch the Frazier Ramos fight, a buzzsaw at work.
I do wish Joe and Yank would have learned more from that right uppercut that Ramos landed early.
Re: Joe Frazier Training(1971)
I sometimes wonder why it is that a boxer like Joe Frazier who worked out like a MoFo over his entire boxing career,
didnt have a freakishly ripped body like some of the heavyweights of the 1970's and 1980's.
Was it his diet?
Jack Johnson was another who worked out hard most of his career and didnt have a rippling muscles and washboard abs.

Larry Holmes is another.
It is just genetics. It happens. Alot of
guys train hard and never get 'the look' yet
otheres do very little and have all the benefits
of looking the part. Just a reality of life I am
afraid. Just as well, that boxing like life ultimately
is, is about performance and not looks.

Huh? Johnson in his prime was pretty ripped and definitely had a washboard stomach:Brutu wrote:I sometimes wonder why it is that a boxer like Joe Frazier who worked out like a MoFo over his entire boxing career,

It was after Johnson left for Europe that he started looking a little pudgier and less fit, as he was drinking and screwing more than training.
I think Frazier at his peak looked very fit.Of course not everyone develops a Harold Johnson/Cleveland Williams look but he looked better than 95% of the pudge trolls masquerading as HWs today.
