Rhino and Jizzle - No not arse licking, and dont have a problem with different opinions, just have a problem with people not just leaving it as an opinion but having to run a young fighter down and putting your opinion across in a disrespectful way. Does it occur to you that boxers may come on here and read whats said? Dont you think a defeat is hard enough to take without having people kick them when their down? Dont you think the self pressure Vinny has on his shoulders having a brother as successful as he is? Have an opinion yes, but there are ways of putting things.

But if you've never stepped foot in the ring we cant expect you to understand.

Don't really want to get dragged into this one...But here goes...Vinny puts himself in the spotlight...He gets paid for what he does...He doesn't box for some righteous cause or out of the goodness of his heart...He boxes for his own profit and his own goals...A lot of people on this forum need to realise this!!...So let's not make out that Vinny or any other boxer should be put on a pedestal and should be beyond criticism...If he can't handle the pressure, he can't handle the pressure and if he's feeling that interweb geeks like us are putting him under even more pressure then he needs to ask himself some questions...

When I screw up at work, I get read the riot act...I swallow it without questions because my boss pays me to do a job...Should the time come that I don't think the hairdryer treatment is worth the amount I get paid at the end of the month, I'll leave...If a boxer can't handle the pressure he can leave as well...

And the old 'never stepped foot in the ring' line is boring, over-used and quite frankly a poor excuse for an argument. I know what my eyes see...I'm watching the winter olympics, never skied in my life, but I know when someones done a bad run...And guess what, they didn't get a podium place...Does that mean that I'm wrong?

It seems to a problem for the Forum's personalities who frequent this fine place!!

If we say a fighter is a world beater and is going to go far - there is never a problem.

The moment an opinion is given that a fighter could be "domestic class" and will only ever fight for domestic titles - dummies are spat out and ego's come to the fore in the stampede to see who can be nicest to the poor unfortunate boxer. Look at Paul Smith - that thread has only got to be re-read again to see I stated nothing insulting other than to argue he was in my view nothing more than a domestic class boxer who has done tremendously well in winning the Lonsdale Belt - a tremendous achievement and I simply cannot understand anyone who states or hints he is remotely world class.

Vinny Mitchell - is a domestic class boxer who is going no further - I cannot see him fighting even for a british title - with that said he is like any boxer - a brave warrior who has the balls to step through the ropes and showcase his skills to the best of his ability - he is not going any further than Area titles.

A very interesting paradox exists on this forum which I don't think exists anywhere else in British sport - an internet forum that encompasses fans, boxers, promoters and trainers - you would think this would be an enviable arrangement - I am sure there are loads of football forums that would love Tom Huddlestone and Robbie Savage and say 'Arry Redknapp posting regulary.

However, I am going to be honest with you - when I read Paul Smith's post in repsponse to Spud - I am not going to say I was shocked but I was like 'whoa' That what gets said on here would upset Paul Smith (who I rate as a decent fighter by the way - he probably isn't 'world' class but he is more than capable of winning the European title and going on to fight for the world title) to that extent where he calls out Spud on getting knocked out by Paul King in Las Vegas.

What is an interesting coincidence was that it was Spud who encouraged boxing personalities such as Chris Aston, Frank Maloney and the like to post on the various websites on here in the first place - but this is the trouble - egos do get pricked and things get blown out of proportion - this is an interactive forum of communication and things will get said - without malice intended most of the time - about certain boxers and boxing - could you imagine if the Walsh brothers and Derek Chisora could read and write the stuff they would be typing up on here?

So what is a - in theory - an enviable situation isn't so because when you type your opinion, one mind is that the person who you are talking about might be reading it - thats OK but it stunts passionate deabte! Which isn't good for a forum.

What I would say to British boxing personalities is that this forum is pretty good at keeping the respect level at a high premium. Go on the Australian boxing forum next door and you will see a complete and utter lack of respect for boxers with the term 'bum' and other nasty insults being bandied about like nobody elses business. But remember that if you are going to get upset about what you consider negative press about yourself - best not coming on here and reading it.

And always remember - we fans may not not what we are talking about and we probably don't have the pulse on whats going on but without us taking an interest - you would have no money at all - fans equate money! Ask any crown green bowler or shinty player!

Young Vinny can improve - if you remember Ricky Hatton and how his defence was in the earlier part of his career to how it was when he was at his peak - this was a guy with very fair skin who could bleed and he went from that to a fighter who never got cut. Vinny obviously isn't a puncher so he needs to work on a style where he isn't walking into wars because he hasn't got that equalising shot to get himself out of trouble. Early losses don't matter that much in my opinion and he can certainly bounce back from this. Is he going to become the next superstar? Maybe not but he can also have a really good solid career. A British title shot isn't out of the question if it comes with constant improvement and a change of style. At this moment it is too early to say one way or the other - if you look at the career of Steve Robinson or even a really tough fighter from Liverpool called Sugar Gilburu from the 1980s who won the British super featherweight title with a record of something like 30-64-10 - fighters have gone on to bigger and better things even from the most unpromising of starts. It is all up to Vinny at the end of the day.

But the term wasn't put across as a domestic class boxer, it was put across as a 'nothing fighter' ...So please dont try to decorate it up. If the 'domestic' fighter term was used that would have shown a little bit more respect, doesn't hurt does it?
