Thank You, y Zoo does go down to camberra has Ben said and his pre fight training regime is awsome.

Difference I think with Ricky and zoo is what makes them blow up and bloat around the face, Ricky inbetween fights blows up and looks fat ,Zoo puts the weight on, but from all acounts its the beer, he loves the stuff its mainly fliuid thats why he can shed it so easy.

I know myself if I lay off the piss for a month and just do a light run round the block a couple of times a week i'll drop 10-15 kilo easy without even trying
Yes even a slob like me lost 2 stone between Xmas and May last year. Gave up booze for a month, normal (as opposed to gargantuan ) eating and 3 gym sessions a week and I went from 15 to 13 stone. I'm 14 stone 7 now sadly.

The body does need rest periods, but there's rest and there's rest.
Depends if you can give it up for a month or not

Ever considered he may just have more fat cells in his face and neck and hene he looks fatter than he is. He does have a muscular face & neck when in condition. Maybe hes not as fat as his face and neck sugest.

Just had another look though and although I carry quite a bit of neck and face fat at 215 (Im 200lb ripped) I dont think I carry quite that much.

He always comes to fight with the best conditioning at 140 bar none. Thats not his weakness - although he has plenty.

He looks like a fat bugger but he's had nearly 40 pro fights now, he knows what he's doing I suspect.

That picture is horrendous! He's leaning back with his head forward which makes it look worse.

Hatton always blows up in between fights, if he want's to prolong his career he should be walking aroung at about 11 st not nearer 13 st, Hatton has said before he has been around 12 1/2 st, the trouble is he's only 5ft 6 or something, carrying all that extra weight just makes you have to train alot harder, more prone to cuts(with the de hydration thing) etc, at the weight he is now he'll be challenging Calzaghe for a wbo title. :TU:

I didn't realise he blew up that much between fights,
Maybe being such a big fan of Duran, he's picked up the same eating/drinking habits too.

But it was years before it eventualy caught up with Duran, and I imagine it'll be the same with Hatton. He's in his prime, and getting the weight off wont be a problem just yet - certainly wont affect the Tszyu fight.

Thing is, he's having a very long training camp, he'll have plenty of time to take the weight off.

No he wont. Calzaghe would never take that much of a risk

There is a difference between putting on weight between fights and blowing up. They should change his figh name from "Hit-man" to Hindenberg

Think your being a bit petty now. You may be having a laugh calling Hatton fat, but I don't think he could give a flying shit about it.

He has a nice house, nice motor, plenty of stash in the bank and at 26 a great future ahead of him.

You can be sure he will not be fat on the 3rd June.

But will he be laughing when he's washed up at 28???..... he'll have plenty of time to spend all that money... its easier to spend than to earn.
I've nothing against Hatton personally, I just think he's misusing his talent.
A lot of his training will be just getting off the excess weight that he shouldn't have allowed himself to put on and anyone who knows boxing knows that that could cost him against someone like Kostya.
He might be able to get away with it against blown up lightweights and 39 yearolds but I think he's headed for a wakeup call!.

He will still be very wealthy at 28, he has a good hard working family around him to keep him on line, his money is invested wisley and he is already planning for the future.

As far as his weight and training goes I can appreciate what your saying but to be fair it seems to work for him, lets be honest his fitness and work rate on fight night are amazing.

I know the old school laws on boxing is live the life of a boxer i.e. early nights, dont drink, eat right and I agree with them, but I use to train with Ricky as an amateur and his commitment and work rate then was frightening. Believe me he has put the hard work in.

So as I say if it works for him then fair play to the lad he's just a lucky sod who can do both.

My point is that he's got away with it so far because of the opposition he has been facing, but when he steps up (as he will be doing when and if he faces Kostya) it could well cost him. The difference between training from a point of reasonable walking around fitness and from a point of being actually overweight and 'blown up' as Ricky seems to have allowed himself to become is that Ricky will not be as highly tuned as he can be because as I said earlier much of his training will be working towards just getting excess weight off, and as time goes on this becomes harder and harder to do. For me Ricky has looked increasingly weight drained for fights. He would do well to remember that Paul Ingle was known to blow up in a simular way between fights and this may well have contributed to him suffering those terrible injuries in his tragic last fight.... certainly there seemed to be something wrong with him from the start of that bout.
Boxers risk more than just defeat if they let themselves go too much between bouts.

I agree with Silkov, he should have been more careful for this one its a whole different ball game shedding loads of weight to get in with the guys he has been facing and doing the same for Tszyu.

I was doubtful before of Rickys chances against Kostya but on seeing his 'preperation' so far I'm convinced his chances now are very ...um, slim!....   8) 8)

Is anyone else seeing shades of Riddick Bowe?

It would appear that Ricky trains like a maniac when he's in training and rewards himself by being a complete slob when not.

I think the reason he looked his worst ever on Ringside was because he's going into what he can expect to be his hardest fight ever by a lightyear with the longest training camp. So as a treat he's been sitting on his arse stuffing down the burgers and chocolate ice cream.
This sort of punishment/reward system probably works for him psychologically and he can get away with it against inferior fighters but when you come up against your equal or superior it's a very dangerous and unnecessary risk.

Many moons ago, North West Novice Champ for 3 years then lost on 4th year to a disgraceful refereeing decision, took my heart out of the game, i think I took it too serious.

The only boxing I do now is opening them when they are full of chocolates

Still wanna kill that ref. though and he still refs now, the wanker.
