Do any filmed boxing events exist of Maxie Rosenbloom?

I was telling Jaclem that my Father (born in 1913, passed in 1989) described him as "Slicker than hog snot on a door knob". His record seems to back it up. He also described him as "No Punch just Panache".


Any filmed record of this guy? Other than as an entertainer?

Ironically, in the Honeymooners episode where Ralph and Ed buy a TV set togather and end up arguing over what to watch, Ralph suggests watching Fights Of The World, with Kingfish Levinsky vs Maxie Rosenbloom.

as for him in movies....check out international movie data base and click his name in. he's in more than a few movies.....sometimes as a punch drunk fighter.

I haven't seen any but I wouldn't lose hope. As has already been said here, he had so many fights that it's hard to imagine that none of them were ever captured on film. Maybe some day footage of Rosenbloom will appear.

I read somewhere that in early 1937 there were plans of Joe Louis to fight Max Rosenbloom at MSG.
But his (Louis's)managers got cold feet and pulled out as if he had lost then Louis may not have had a chance to fight Braddock for the title.

What makes you say that? I believe they fought five times, and Maxie won 3 out of 5. No KO's between them. Pretty evenly matched fighters IMHO.

Sounds like you got a dog in this race. So the official record is 3 to 2 Maxie, , but you say 4 to 1 with a KO?

..when boxbuzz sent me a pm asking about maxie i told him i didn't know anything about him except for his remarkable record.

then i dug into some old ring magazines of that era and read that maxie would fight lewis only over the weight...not in a title fight. apparently lewis had really done a job on body punching maxie and his managers wouldn't let max give him a title shot. now that i've found a few issues from that same time period maybe i can unearth some additional information. it's going to take a while though.

It could be along the lines of Holyfield/Ruiz 2 when Evander clearly knocked Ruiz out with a body shot. But it is quite hard to imagine that Rosenbloom was down for a ten count and the result was recorded as a Maxie win for the rest of time. This is the first I've heard of it.
