10-8 or not?

Post by Ezzard »

Just interested to know how members score certain rounds...

Frazier-Ali I was scored on a rounds basis... Even so, for the purposes of this thread go with the 10 point system.

Frazier-Ali round 11 - how do you score it?

Ali staggered around the ring in that round like he was auditioning for a role as a drunk in a fifth-rate silent movie.

I went for 10-9, but it's mighty close. Truth of the matter is, it came in the final minute of an otherwise fairly uneventful round. That usually won't be enough for me, without a knockdown. With that said, it was a severe case of the shakey-acheys, perhaps somewhat put-on by Ali, but real, nonetheless.

I'm not going to go after anyone for scoring it 10-8, that's for sure. I did think it needed to come about thirty seconds to a minute earlier, sustained, for me to push it to 10-8, though. I seem to have scored this fight, overall, a lot closer than others, the officials included.

I would score it 10-5.

I'd give "referee" Merchante, who stuck his fingers in Frazier's eye a round earlier, a pandering for Ali medal for calling the knockdown at the beginning of the round a "slip."

Compare the staggering Ali did in this round (with no stoppage by the "referee")

with the stoppage in Ali's favor of the Lyle fight.

The clueless of boxrec strikes again. How the hell do you score that round 10 - 5. Based on your extensive knowledge of boxing. I would love to hear your explanation. And yet you like call everyone else clueless, how ironic.

I score the round 10 – 8 for Frazier

10 - 4 for me

If stooge referee Arthur Mercante had not stuck his fingers in Frazier's eye and kneed him in the balls TWICE he would have defeated media creation Cassius Clay right there and then!

And the clueless insects of boxrec read Hauser books and prostrate yourselves on the alter of Ali.

(i was going to add....10-8 is the correct score, just to bug collins because i think he might have missed my pissing him off when i couldn't get on the forum but i can see he has more than enough problems to handle.)

he hasn't had a chance to call me irrelevant for a long time.

It's a hard call as to whether or not the fight should have been stopped in the 11th, as Ali was partly putting it on - acting more hurt than he was.

Lyle may have staggered less, but that stoppage was too late if anything.

Oh, 10-8 round for me too.

I think it's a 10-8 and it could have been stopped. But ina championship fight and such an occassion it was a 50-50 call.
