Looking for any information you might have on New Jersey Manager Abe Bressler. Managed 1940 & 1950's from Bayonne and Jersey city area.
No doubt deceased by now. Looking for who he managed, where he took them, start -finish dates, friends and pals info too. Thanks

Bayonne, N.J., April 8 —Abe Bressler, a former fight manager who also managed the casino of the Sand Hotel in Las Vegas, died Monday at a hospital in Trenton. He was 66 years old and lived here at 49 East 33d Street.

Mr. Bressler, manager of heavyweight contenders Ernie Durando and Charlie Norkus, was born in Austria. He lived in Bayonne and Las Vegas most of his life.

He is survived by 3 sons, Lawrence, Edmund and Bruce; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Baer; a brother, Sam, and 10 grandchildren.

Ernie Durando was a middleweight.

He fought Rocky Castellani, Paddy Young, Joey Giardello, Harold Green, Bobby Dykes, Tiger Jones, Gene Fullmer.

Abe Bressler use to manage the Bayview Tavern in Bayonne NJ in the late 1940's.
(along with Anthony Pirozzi).
and If he ran the casino at the Sands you know what that probably means.

I'm a retired NYC Firefighter since 2005. Dealing with a few lung issues from the WTC, but otherwise doing fine. I plan on being around a while. I attend various NJ Boxing Hall of Fame meetings as well as Ring 8 meetings in NY.

Glad you enjoy my fathers fights. He was one tough puncher back in his day and didn't try to finesse a way to victory. I dont mind telling you that at home he was a well like man by all in the community and never confrontational. Never looked for accolades but received them well when others seeked him out. Though I was only 3 when his boxing career ended, I attended many fights with him during the remaining years as a referee and boxing fan. He was always articulate and really never showed traumatic effects from his career in the ring. His fights videos would have you think different but, he "weathered the storm" quite well.
