The winner of the Pedro Sosa v Shemuel Pagan bout will most likely win the NYGG and quite possibly the National GG. That should be an amazing bout.NYboxing wrote:B.B KINGS BLUES CLUB (January 20th)

Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Friday's fight at the Holy Cross Gym in Queens was an all novice card for 165-pounders - 12 bouts and 2 boxers had bye, which included the son of Mike Tyson's former trainer Kevin Rooney, Kevin Rooney Jr., who was victorious.
I will post just open results throughout the tournament, and add novice results for the finals.

Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Can anyone tell me the age determination date for this year's GG Championships? Thanks!!
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
from the NY Metro website:
Junior – A Junior boxer is an athlete between the ages of 8 and 16. (You cannot register with USA Boxing until you are 8 years of age.)
If you will be 16 before your next competition, then you will participate as a Senior boxer. If you are under 16 at the beginning of the competition, you are a Junior.
Senior – A Senior boxer is an athlete between the ages of 16 (see above) and 34. A boxer is a Master boxer once he/she has turned 35.
Master – An athlete is a Master boxer once he/she has turned 35 years of age.
Open Class – (a) An Open (Post-Novice boxer) is:
(i) A boxer who has competed in twenty (20) or more sanctioned boxing matches as a 15-16 year old Junior Olympian or has been a finalist in the national JO tournament, upon becoming a Senior Class boxer, he/she shall be an Open Class boxer.
(ii) A boxer shall become an Open Class boxer upon the completion of his/her tenth bout in the Senior Class (non-Junior Olympics). Therefore, a boxer’s eleventh bout as a Senior Class boxer will be an Open Class bout if said boxer did not have twenty (20) bouts as 15-16 year old Junior Olympian;
(iv) A boxer who has competed in ten (10) or more boxing matches as a senior boxer in any country;
(v) A boxer who has been a finalist in any major tournament. Major tournaments include the Golden Gloves, State Final Competitions, Regional USA Boxing Championships;
(vi) Any boxer who has competed in two (2) local Golden Gloves tournaments must enter his third Golden Gloves tournament as an Open boxer;
(vii) At the discretion of the coach and boxer, a boxer who has competed in five (5) or more sanctioned bouts is eligible to compete as an Open class boxer;
(viii) At the discretion of the coach and boxer, a boxer who has not competed in five (5) or more sanctioned bouts may petition the Board of Directors or Tournament Organization Committee to enter said boxer in the Open class. The Executive Committee shall grant permission for said boxer to compete in the Open class only upon the determination that said boxer would be competitive in the Open class;
(ix) Once a boxer has competed in the Open class (i.e., Empire State Games, on a USA Boxing team) said boxer cannot revert to the Novice class;
(x) “Walkover” decisions and “byes” do not count as sanctioned USA Boxing matches;
(xi) A boxer who is eligible to enter a tournament as a Novice boxer shall remain in the Novice class for the duration of that tournament.
Novice Class – A male boxer is a Novice boxer until he has 10 bouts in his passbook as a Senior boxer; until he has competed in his second Golden Gloves tournament; if he has had fewer than 20 bouts as a Senior Junior Olympian; or until he been a finalist in a major competition as a novice boxer.

Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Ummm - I need to know the age determination date as determined by Golden Gloves for their 2010 championships.
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
send you a PM with Bryan Adams email sometime tonight.
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
I thought there would be a Pagan vs Sosa bout. Sosa lost a close one so it won't happen.
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Everybody is shocked - conspiracy theory wants to call it the Dennis jinx from what you wrote a couple of weeks ago. I will try to get a video.Dennis wrote:The winner of the Pedro Sosa v Shemuel Pagan bout will most likely win the NYGG and quite possibly the National GG. That should be an amazing bout
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Im not shocked Peralta's a damn good fighter.. When i first started boxing we used to go to war sometimes when we sparred..Post the vid when u can .. I bet it wasnt as close as the 3-2 either
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Shemuel by majority decision a little shocker. Will this kid that beat Sosa beat Shemuel?
Re: 2010 New York Golden Gloves (83rd Annual)
Pagan more experienced should win. Hopefully they meet in the finals.
