Smith was on his way out of boxing around the time I was beginning to become a die hard fan of the sport and haven't seen too much of him but can someone tell me, is that his real name?Syntax Error wrote:Fidel Castro Smith -v- Henry Wharton!![]()
Smith completely outboxed Wharton, yet the ref raised Wharton's hand at the end!![]()
Shocking decision IMHO.

watt's commentary was spot on. fury got schooledAdamj1987 wrote:MachoMan09 wrote:This could be a long topic...
Tyson Fury vs John McDermott. A terrible decision. The ref should hang his head in shame.![]()
it wasnt that terrible just teh scoreline. i had mcdermott winning by 2 rounds. the comentary by jim watt was incredibly biased against fury that night

froch won , no doubt in my mind , i was there and i was surprised when it was announced as a split decision , but this has been argued to death . one thing i will say though is that when i re watched it on tv i only had froch by one so a couple of rounds closer.mickey1975 wrote:The thread says controversial decisions, mate, and that was definately controversialgobbles wrote:mickey1975 wrote:Froch-Dirrell.I just dont see what Froch did to win that fight.Dirrell wasnt much better, but WAS better.
You can't call that a terrible decision. IF Dirrell won, he only just nicked it and he tried to steal the fight with all his holding.
Meager v Hunt was a terrible decision. And Graham Earl v the Argie he beat prior to getting the shot at Katsidis.

That was his real name, which TBF, he didn't reallly start to use until towards the end of his career.banjo wrote:Smith was on his way out of boxing around the time I was beginning to become a die hard fan of the sport and haven't seen too much of him but can someone tell me, is that his real name?Syntax Error wrote:Fidel Castro Smith -v- Henry Wharton!![]()

When he 'lost' to Wharton, it was as Slugger O'Toole.

When he lost to Wharton,it was Castro Smith. As for the verdict, much like Froch-Dirrell,at ringside there was no real suprise at the verdict.Even Harry Mullan only scored for Smith by 1/2 point.Personally,i thought Henry lost but when i watched the recording Harry Carpenter and Frank Bruno did him no favoursSyntax Error wrote:That was his real name, which TBF, he didn't reallly start to use until towards the end of his career.banjo wrote:Smith was on his way out of boxing around the time I was beginning to become a die hard fan of the sport and haven't seen too much of him but can someone tell me, is that his real name?Syntax Error wrote:Fidel Castro Smith -v- Henry Wharton!![]()

Good call.jonny wrote:Benn v Malinga, 1st fight
Malinga definitely got robbed in that one.
Just imagine Malinga had rightfully gotten the decision; Benn's status in history would be vastly diminished.
