ANY chance of Magee beating calzaghe??

I hate Calzaghe threads but I'll make an exception to ask you, can Brian Magee beat Calzaghe????? I didn't see Magee vs Reid, so Its harder for me to judge Magee's chances without seeing his hardest fight.

His chin is questionable, but does he have a good recovery?
Can he outbox Calzaghe, who is a terrible boxer?
Can he hurt Calzaghe, who got badly dropped by a non-puncher in Salem?
Can he do it?

I will be rooting for him big-time in this fight, but I fear he will get beaten and we'll have to hear more of Calzaghe's shit.

No chance at all.

Magee will get beaten the hell out of.

JC is a terrible boxer? But magee isnt what planet you on.

Magee gets a lesson withouth a shadow of doubt.

While you may be justified in questioning JCs heart for the game amnd for a challenge, to question his boxing skills shows a somwhat slanted view of his skills imo.

Calzaghe isn't a terrible boxer, when he wants to he can box very well, he just tends to whale away and go for the KO.

I think if Calzaghe carries on fighting like he has in his last few fights Magee has a chance, I ve seen Magee a few times and sometimes he looks fuckin mustard, then they put him in with iron jaw reid, why i dont know, If magee catches Calzaghe with a counter like Saleem did he'll knock him out, problem Magee has if Calzaghe catches him half flush its lights out, I hope Magee wins, just because i think at least he had the balls to get in a ring with Reid, and he kept getting up again and again.

Calzaghe still has an iron chin - different class to Magee. That free shot Salem got in would've knocked out a horse.

I agree, that was a hell of a shot Salem landed, and Calzaghe didn't even see it coming, the fact he got up pretty much immediately says a lot about his powers of recovery.

Magee isn't a big enough banger to stop Calzaghe, and I think Calzaghe will probably give him a pasting, Magee isn't exactly iron-chinned himself.

Magee may feint when they touch gloves.

I like the kid, but Reid landed glancing blows and decked him.

Calzaghe is going to stop him in two rounds or less.

And I'm not sure Magee's the strength, will, know-how or stamina to keep Joe off.

An incomprehensible match, almost as incomprehensible as the WBO rankings which have Magee three places higher than Robin Reid (source: My T-Sharp).
One-legged Eamonn would have a better chance with Calzaghe than Brian.

the only saving grace for Magee is that he has experience fighting southpaws....... calzaghe hasnt

It'll be an absolutely shit fight. Magee will be clinching and Calzaghe won't be able to do much about it because he won't have trained with any fear.

Apart from the relevant people getting money out of it the match is a waste of time.

Calzaghe may be at a lull in his career but Magee still isn't in his league.

I plan to bet on rounds 1 and 2 for Calzaghe, Magee's chin is shocking and Calzaghe will land plenty if he comes out blazing as he does.

Calzaghe should muller Magee before the end of the fifth.

If Magee had a better set of whiskers the fight would be a little more interesting - Magee is a sharp puncher himself, but I still see Calzaghe mullering him by walking straight through him.

I feel that Magee has very little chance of beating Joe Calzaghe next month. Magee is a capable fighter but he hasn't the power to KO Joe or the handspeed and workrate to outbox him.

lirva - as much as I'm sick of Calzaghe's daft comments, you really do (again) let your hatred cloud your judgement.

Calzaghe is the best in the division and a decent boxer with a great chin, decent bang (though his hands are suffering) and quick hands.

Magee isn't in the same class. As MW said, Salem basically got a free shot and Joe still got up (thank God, I had a good few quid on the points win!).

However, if Calzaghe keeps going in with the attitude he did against Salem ("I don't give a fack, he can't take my POWAHH!") he will suffer the consequences one day.

Doubt if Brian will be the one to take advantage.

Magee hasn't got a hope in hell.

It's a while back I know, but Chris Nembhard gave Magee fits until Brian got off with a cut eye win. What's Joe going to do to him if he's remotely in the mood?

I dont give Magee much chance. However if Salem got a free shot then Magee could well get a free shot no? I consider Magee to be a little better than Salem.

Seriously Magee is pretty average, indeed pretty hopeless really and unless Joe's been fooling around so much that he's goes out with weak legs I see a Calzaghe win in about 5 rounds.
