Brian looked out of shape but was not. He had a very good chin (only floored twice in his careeer) and was a strong body puncher. He lacked one punch knock out power, but coud wear down opponents. Often he was one dimensionel, and because he knew that he could take a punch he was hit too much.
I have all his fights on tape and saw him live several times. Strange thing is that seen from ringside he was much faster and agile, than when you watched him on TV.

It's hard to say as his record was so padded and he was a very protected fighter.

From what I saw he was tough and durable, he took some big shots of Tyson, although Tyson looked very poor that night.

That being said Brian must have had some Boxing ability as he was a sucsessfull amateur.

Hmmm interesting questions.

Nielsens key strengths were his matchmakers ability to pick washed up ex-champs in their 40s and white clubfighters with undefeated records, import them to Denmark & convince the danish crowd they were credible opponents.

This enable the morbidly obese Nielsen to rack up a huge winning record without training until it eventually all went wrong when tough journeyman Dicky Ryan accidentally fought back and knocked Nielsen out.

Another strength was his fanbases belief that his IBO and IBC titles were legitimate world titles & they were all attending real world title fights. (did his promoters somehow block all news & broadcasts of Lennox Lewis fights in Denmark?)

Finally his promoters ability to bribe opponents like Lionel Butler, Phil Jackson, Mike The Bounty Hunter, Tony Tubbs et al to "not try too hard" as well as employing useful poisioning techniques on other fighters like Larry Holmes & Tim Witherspoon who were unlikely to accept kick backs as they were not drug addicts, just in case any of these fighters might pose a threat (throw a punch back).

All in all Nielsens strenghs far outweigh his weaknesses, that were his morbid obesity, his lack of skill, no punch and propensity to quit when under fire, which was exposed when Tyson beat the shit out of him in 6 rds and Nielsen pulled out with "obscurred vision".

250lbs for a 191cm boxer is not morbid obese.

Freiheit, a man with several large rolls of fat around his waist and large flabby man-breats drooping from his chest qualify him as morbidly obese.

But thankyou for your feedback!
