Post by rhino222 »

apologies again for anoter thread on the prizefighter, but as i was there had no chance to see the KD on tv, was it a genuine one? i thought it looked like a bit of a shove. the KD cost flournoy the cup and a huge wad of cash!!

He was sort of bundled over amidst a flurry of punches. The TV angle wasn't the best Rhino, but when everyone got out of the way it looked to me like he'd took a knee, whether that's what he did or not I cannot be sure - but that's how it appeared.

Yes it was a legitimate one. He hit Flounoy with a few shots and he took a knee. I thought he was going to win it if he didnt go down

Had £80.00 quid on Brett at 25-1 so that decision cost me 2 grand off the bookies.

Could not see clear at the venue but when I watched again at home it was not a knockdown. Arron hurt Brett , launched in with a flurry forcing him to the ropes and then leant over Brett and puched him down. Brett was not hurt but took a knee due to inexperience ,hard one for the ref and would like to know what have happened if Brett jumped up , would he have waved carry on with no count ??.

We will never know , but do know Brett would have won the fight but for the knockdown !!

No knockdown for me.

I had a tenner at 14-1.

If I had a lump on, I'd be complaining as well. But I thought enough went on, punch-wise, for it to be called a KD. Without it, I had Flournoy winning.

I fancied Flournoy to win the tournament so glad I had no money riding on it!

Sinky bowed out meekly though

I thought Flourney should have won weather it was a knock down or not.

I think if Flournoy was pushed down after being hurt during a flurry. If he had jumped straight back up the ref wouldn't have ruled it a knockdown but he couldn't jump straight up, he needed to take the 8 count to clear his head.

Thought the KD was legit to be honest. Few decent punches landed and had Flournoy looking for the canvas. That said, I still had the fight even.

Knockdowns are a joke in Prizefighter. As long as you put your opponent down then you can't lose if it goes to points.

I thought it was a Knockdown but only scored it 10-9 but gave the first to Arron the second to Flournoy so ended up with 29-28 Arron. Did not have a bet on it though

I didnt think it was legit knock down, had Brett winning the first two, and Aaron winning the last, thought Brett should have won. The beanpolekid aint gonna do much I dont think, looks like he would fold in half with a decent dig, but he does have the height to frustrate people

One major flaw with the 3 round format and the current scoring system is that knockdowns count too much.

a few people are saying this, & i dont understand it :!:
it's like you people are suggesting knock downs are an easy accomplishment, the guy took a knee & was hurt he showed weakness.

Yes, but the 10-8 scoring system means if one boxer goes down, then the boxer (who has gone down) needs to win both the other rounds, just for the contest to be scored a draw.

Or put directly-if a boxer goes down , and fails to put his opponent down, the he can't win the fight.

That seems unbalanced.

surelly a judge can score a 9-9 round10-8 is a clear 2pts, a knockdown is 1pt & surelly the fighter has to win the rd to make it 10-8, i think it's down to the judges discression.

A knockdown is automatically a 10-8 round. Its a 10 point must system so for a round to be 9-9,the boxer winning the round would have to be deducted a point. Not sure how this is how it is written in the rules, but this is how it usually is
