The normally tough and durable Levinsky pulled a 'Spinks-Tyson' for this fight . . .he lost the fight before the opening bell rung, not that it would've mattered but he was clearly intimidated.

When he finally decides to fight a bit Levinsky throws one circuler right hand.
The 2nd time he does that Louis hits him with a short left hook inside of it.

Short punches and straight punches always get there first.

Jimmy Young gave a clinic on that in his fight with Ali. He beat Ali to the punch every time.

Levinsky got hit plenty.

The ref should have stopped it before that.

Levinsky is the one who made a retired Dempsey look bad in an exhibition match which caused Dempsey to decide not to return to the ring.

20 rounds !

Baer is skinnier than he was later.
He eats every jab his opponent throws at him.
Baer had a LOT to learn here.

Hard to get a handle on what Levinsky is doing.
Seems rugged and aggressive enough.
Circular right hand.
Jabs okay.

Max Baer vs King Levinsky - Wild Exhibition !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8Xh4WUG ... re=related

Exhibition between the two just after Baer beat Carnera to win the title.

Baer is more filled out here than in the earlier bout.

He also has improved a lot.

He knocks Levinsky cold in the 2nd round of this 'exhibition.'

I read where it was filmed.
Reportly Jack Dempsey hurt Levinsky real bad with body shots in the first round.
The second round was a draw.
Levinsky hurt Dempsy in the third.
Dempsey looked real tired in the fourth.
The 24 newspaper men who voted had Levinsky winning the exhibition by 18 votes.
Dempsey finished his next 16 exhibitions to fullfill contract.
If Dempsey had won he probably would have fought Primo Carnera,
and if he won then fight Jack Sharkey for the HWY Championship.

Reportly Mike Jacobs the promoter saw how antsy that Levinsky was in the dressing room and concerned that he may take flight
ordered the fight to start half an hour earlier claiming it looked like rain(there wasnt a cloud in the sky).
