The forgotten people ?

Morning All

Just been sat looking through alot of posts about promoters, trainers and boxers and it has come to me that there are so many people that work alongside them both to make shows happen, they dont ever seem to get a mention and in my mind work harder than anyone pre and post show.

So I thought I would start a rare thread and see how many people there are milling around behind the scenes putting together our boxing nights.

Mine is John Wichhussen (spelling?) from Matchroom, an honest straight man, John is a man of his word and works tirelessly on Matchrooms shows. he is well loved in the game and for good reason, hes a lovely bloke who loves this game and fighters. So thank you John and long may you continue in your job.

Now who can you think of, lets say thanks to those that dont get a mention.

I also agree with SCRAP - Johnny Wish works very hard and does a great job, even guides them up the last steps.

Ernie Draper, Frank Warrens whip. When I first turned pro referee in the1980`s, I didn`t know anybody on this side of the game. Ernie was very kind to me and always helped me. The first person that would come over to me at a show would be Ernie, giving me all the details of the fights that I was doing, weights, colour of shorts etc. He would always manage to find me somewhere to get changed away from the fighters. In fact, he is still doing that to this day. Ernie is one of the few people that can remember me boxing as an amateur. He has looked after me as a pro, and I consider him a great friend. He is an excellent predictor of a fights outcome, and is genuinelly respected by everyone on my side of the sport.
But Ernie is only one. There are a lot more out there that never get noticed. There are too many to mention here.

Ernie Draper is one of the nicest people in the game, on the night, besides the boxers the whip works harder than anyone, in a big show ill bet they walk 30 mile a night. Bless them

lee gostolo ... he will never be forgotten, life taken away so young, bloody pancreatic carcinoma...a sient, swift deadly killer.

as well as, most importantly, taking away a beautiful ladies husband and a young lads dad, the bloody disease deprived us of a top class bloke and a top class whip.

i only met lee about 6 times, sometimes behind the scenes, but a great smile and cheery nature, always time to have a chat and a laugh and a wind up.

I heard a lot of the bollox going on about dean when i first got my license,i even got told a few times that he personnaly didnt like me because i had a matchmakers licence so i was a little bit sceptical about the man.
I just waited to see and tried to make no judgements as im not someone who rushes,im glad i did as it turns out we got chatting at a show where everything was going wrong and had to be sorted out.
After that Dean has given me plenty of good work a fair bit of advice and help and when i can iv reciprocated the help.
I think people need to get know someone before jumping on a hype bandwagon.It easy to point fingers a someone in a powerful job who sometimes has to tell someone bad news or do something not everyone is going to agree with.
Iv worked first hand with Dean Powell and like i say went in very cautiously and he never done me a wrong,a good bloke who people find it easy to jump up n down and slur his character.

You just watch after this statement heel probly burn down my gym and steal my wife

Maybe so, but his comments are seconded by me. You are a bitter person it has to be said. If you have issues or dislike someone for a specific reason why don't you be a man and say what your beef is so that we may fully understand why you are a keyboard terrorist.

There's a quiet guy called Spud who does a lot of work behind the scenes at various shows, but you won't have heard of him because he hates the limelight
