Not to many issues with the list for me, but personally I think Munroe is a bit high at #5 and Murray should be ahead of Cook. I think Woods officially announced his retirement did he not? I might be mistaken on that but if he did he should be off. And At this point I might put Froch ahead of Hatton.

Mitchell should be above Cleverly and Munroe - he has beaten better fighters.

Agreed. And also agreed on removing Woods and Dunne as they have retired.

Munroe has been the European champion for just under two years and has beaten some good opponents in that time like Martinez and Maludrottu. I can see why some people would have him lower, but I think his consistency at European level over the last two years has proven more than the results of the fighters ranked below him, even if some of their wins have been "flashier".

Murray has a fight against an unnamed opponent scheduled for March 19th. If his opponent is half decent then he will go above Cook next month, if he wins.

Yes, Woods has officially retired, but I decided to leave him on for a while in case he had a sudden change of heart. It has been over 6 months since Woods's last fight now, so I am likely to take him off soon. Woods will be taken out of the Rankings by the September list at the latest.

If Froch beats either Kessler or Abraham then he will go above Hatton, unless Hatton has had a comeback in that time.

Why do the Irish get so hung up on this all the time? Macklin was born in Birmingham, grew up in Birmingham and has homes in Birmingham and Manchester. He was also British champion and boxed for England as an amateur.

Maybe Joe Calzaghe should have been classified as Italy rather than Wales? Charlie Magri as Tunisia or Malta, rather than England?

I would assume the need to put Irish next to Dunne is because he is not qualified to box for a British title. However, as both McCloskey and Lindsay are British champions, singling them out as Irish is pretty ridiculous.

macklin has stated himself he is irish , his nationality is not for you to decide , he carries an irish passport and is a proud irishman so what gives you the right to decide for him ??

and why is it that mcloskey and lindsay are are not irish ???

they more then likely hold irish passports , is shinny bayaer "british" or mongol ???

Dunne and Woods will leave the rankings in September for the start of the new boxing season. Although, I might take Woods out earlier as he announced his retirement quite a few months ago now.

Cook and Witter are a bit too high at the moment due to their recent inactivity and losses. I will try to move them down the rankings as quickly as is reasonable.

I think Munroe's current position is okay. If Macklin wins his next fight against Gevor then he will probably overtake Munroe, but unless munroe loses he won't be falling many places down the list for a while.

Smith will probably enter the rankings if he beats Dodson later this month.

Rhodes dropped two places as both Cleverly and Mitchell moved above him. Moore fell one place because Booth overtook him.

Since Cleverly and Mitchell were already above Moore, their move up the rankings did not effect Moore's position.

As you say he is Retired, so why not take him out, if he does have sudden change of heart as you say then keep track of where you would of had him, i think that makes more sense... You kow everyone will say each month is this your way of getting a bit of stress out and an argument

He could be put as either. To be honest, the whole nationality thing is blown out of proportion. It's something that creates divisions; a negative aspect to our society.

Mitchell's best wins are over - Prescott, Johanneson and Isaev.

Cleverly's best wins are over - Oakey, McIntosh and Brancalion.

Munroe's best wins are over - Maludrottu and Martinez x2.

I think Mitchell's best three wins are better than Cleverly's, but Cleverly has been doing more than Mitchell recently, so that is why he is above Mitchell.

I think Munroe has the best opposition of the three, he has also been doing more than Mitchell has recently.

He was born in England and has had most of his fights in Britain. I think being either born or raised in Ireland is pretty important as far as being Irish goes.

Was he raised in Ireland? Was he schooled in Ireland?
adamburke83 wrote:And taught McCloskey would be higher than that
His recent opposition has been relatively poor and he hasn't been very active either, so I think his current position is fair.

Well said Moorser! Its not the Irish getting hung up about anything actually - its the other way around. The man stated himself that he is Irish, he holds an Irish passport - makes him Irish in my box, not that its my opinion that counts!!!

Could I apply for an Irish passport given that I have Irish ancestry? Or even a Spanish one because I have Spanish ancestry too?

Nationality confuses me :geek2:

There is the "BoxRec Forum P4P Rankings" which I currently run, which is also a top 30 list. The last update was in January. I plan on updating it this month, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
