what is wrong with some of the people on here. can you not just say good match up, hope mitchell does a job and we wil all be behind him rather than bringing up khan, ppv and if warren has done well in bringing the fight to the uk or not?

support our fighters......its no wonder that so many are fornicating off to the usa when the likes of the cretins on here cant even see a positive out of a potentially explosive encounter in london later this year.

This should be an out and out war. I see Mitchell winning by late stoppage after taking some serious punishment along the way. Just think Mitchell is the better boxer and has a good enough chin to take Katsidis' shots..

He's getting credit for it. Nobody has had a bad word to say about this fight.
Spud wrote:and watch his undercard for this one in comparison to the Haye/Ruiz one - W arren maybe in some peoples opinions not a nice person - but unlike some promoters he knows how to put a decent show on.
Or rather, watch what undercard is announced, and then compare it to the one that actually happens.

I don't know why so many people are predicting a quicker and easier win for Mitchell than Casamayor managed - especially as Katsidis has improved since that fight.

And Katsisdis has fought at a much higher level. This will be a huge step up for Mitchell, no way he wins as early as the 5th as some have predicted. If Mitchell wins I think it will be a close decision. Katsidis is much tougher than Prescott and is not going to be knocked out like the Colombian was.

Katsidis can be hurt and WILL be hurt by Mitchell. He's been down early in fights... Casa, Earl and Mitchell hits just as hard and won't have to go looking for him.

Yes, he has been down, but he has always recovered and gone on to either win or go into the late rounds and put up a hell of a fight. Lately he has looked in excellent form and is by far the toughest opponent Mitchell will have faced.

Prescott never did anything before or after Khan (except lose to Miguel Vasquez) and Mitchell has not been in the ring with one world class fighter. His knockouts come against mediocre opposition, he never had Prescott in serious trouble and took 9 rounds to get Johanneson out of there. Look at the opponents he has shown his power against and tell me why they are relevant at the world level or prove he can impressively stop a world class fighter.

You mention fighters like Earl and Casa dropping Katsidis, well if a fighter like Carl Johanneson could provide Mitchell with so much trouble than Katsidis will be a nightmare.Katsidis has only lost to elite world class fighters, and he has been competitive both times, so I'm shocked that some people are picking Mitchell to win by early KO.

Mitchell should fight the same type of fight he did against Prescott. Box smart and do not get into a slug fest. He is more skilled than Katsidis and needs to be light on his feet and offset Katsidis charges, get and out with combinations, and counter punch effectively. I doubt the fight will turn out to be the war many expect. Mitchell didn't look to trade at all with the fringe contender Prescott, who is a level below Katsidis and doesn't hit any harder.

I think Mitchell will win a close decision by out boxing his opponent, but I would not be totally surprised to see him overwhelmed by Katsidis pressure.

katsidis recovered but with some well placed shots Casa or Earl could have had him gone. he was lucky to survive both times and was badly shaken up. When Mitchell lands it will be no different. Mitchell is technically superior so can outbox him with ease. However, if Katsidis wants to force the issue, he'll get caught badly and his courage will see him badly hurt. Mitchell has a much better chin in my eyes and is way too skilled for him. Katsidis will be tough and put on pressure (Autobarn will love him), but will be way outclassed.

Provided this isn't May 15th I might go to this.

Great matchup. Surprised it's so soon.

Again, if one of the world's very best technical boxers (Casamayor) failed to "outbox him with ease" or "outclass" Katsidis, how is Mitchell going to do that?

casamayor was on his last legs in my opinion and was finished. marquez destroyed him next. juan diaz pummelled Katsidis for many rounds and won easily (don't mind the split decision). Mitchell is better than Diaz in every department. The better skilled fighter usually beats the slugger.

I'm not saying Mitchell can't win. Absolutely he can. But I'd be very surprised if he does any outclassing.

And Casamayor is getting on in years, sure, but on his last legs? Hardly. Marquez beat him, but it was a very competitive fight, not a destruction, and at the time Marquez was regarded as top 3 P4P material.

Good fight, unlike most on here I'd make Katsidis the favourite.

A good fight, but as always with tasty match ups, there are always possibilities that it won't go ahead for some reason- injury, pull outs and the like.

So I can't get too excitied yet.

But yeah- if it goes ahead, one to look forward to.

Mitchell will be a slight favorite I'm sure - it looks another educated, smart matchup by Warren, who's becoming one of the world's best at matching his fighters at this level. If not THE best.
Goldenboy promotions look like green horn amateurs compared to Warren.

Katsidis is hard as nails, but he can be outboxed and marks up easily - Mitchell will be looking to outbox him early, then maybe step it up late on, if he manages to do some damage early.
And Mitchell looks like he has the safety net of a good chin to get away with any mistakes on the way.

It would be Dean Powell getting the credit for the match up, wouldn't it? And not for this one, as Michael Katsidis is the interim champion, so the only way to get to the belt is through him or Marquez.

Katsidis is more proven than Mitchell, and they're both similar, though Katsidis is more of a brawler and Mitchell is more of a boxer. If Mitchell boxes to a perfect game plan he could win, but Katsidis is much, much better than Prescott, imo.

I'm sitting on the fence, but I think this'll be a very competitive fight.

No chance, he may make lesser fights for Warren, but for the big decisions like this it will be Warren all the way, 100%.

i think katsidis is more of an all out slugger. his shots aren't really short enough and he's not quite composed enough for me to rank him as a top rpessure fighter. i think in world boxing, poonswawat kratingdaenggym might be the best there is right now, due to variety, clean punching (if not power), head movement, non stop punching, and TECHNICAL CORRECTNESS. katsidis can be effective but he's certainly not correct.

katsidis can't beat the top boys but he can give some of them hard fights (casamayor), proving his worth as a world title challenger. maybe he can make a decent living bashing up prospects like escobedo and kevin mitchell. if he fails at that (mitchell), i don't see what there is for him in boxing.

probably cos it's right place, right time, right opponent, right opportunity (we all know winner will be upgraded to champ).

a great match up actually, katsidis is immensely strong at the weight and also very fit which his why he often recovers from bad knockdowns, i see mitchell winning by late stoppage although i wouldnt be surprised if katsidis wins.
i just hope mitchell is over his injury problems and can make a good few defences against quality opposition

I think Mighty has called this spot on.
Perfect opponent at the perfect time.
Educated followers will see the risks involved, casual followers will not.
Mitchell for me - but can't decide whether at the bell or before.
With that in mind, home advantage could be crucial.
