at LHW. This would be a great fight. I see Calzaghe taking the UD over 12 with his speed and punch output. similar to what he did to lacy but more cautious of big george's power. george is too slow and flat footed, but would trouble Calz from time to time.

Your location is fitting, and Foreman would send Calzaghe there to join you.

How could you expect a natural Super Middleweight to beat a Heavyweight, one of the biggest hitting HW's at that. Foreman would never make it to LHW.
Calzaghe would be gone inside 2 rounds.

I imagine that Joe would flail furiously at George for several rounds, then George would eventually be awakened by the sound of all the slappng, Yawn a bit, push him off gently, take aim, and send him directly to your zip code. Are you a Dr? I think Joe would find you a very handy person to have close at that moment.

The fairy tale world of the more recent so-called "boxing" enthusiast.

yeah yeah you all bash on me but you cant knock out what you cant hit. look at lacy vs calzaghe. lacy was clearly more powerful but just couldnt catch him flush. this would be the same case with foreman
Re: Fantasy Match-up: Joe Calzaghe vs George Foreman
Well not not exactly the same do you think?....I mean Jeff Lacy and Foreman "the same"? Really? And wouldn't that slapping sound eventually wake Big George up? And then what? George doesn't really need to aim at any particular point and Joe's body would present a target that could be hit. Seems like a windshield and a bug affair to me.big train express wrote:yeah yeah you all bash on me but you cant knock out what you cant hit. look at lacy vs calzaghe. lacy was clearly more powerful but just couldnt catch him flush. this would be the same case with foreman

Two of the best and appropriate responses I've read on this site in quite sometime.I believe I qualify as "real".

ban for sharing my boxing knowledge and beliefs on a PUBLIC forum?
the fact is you can't say my opinion is stupid because we will never know the outcome between two greats in two different eras. its just my opinion and i think foremans style compliments calz.

ok fine let me retitle the topic as "Old generation always beat New generation."
lets be unbiased and logical

you see what happens guys when i go away and don't post for months. you get topics like this. i haven't looked at this site in forever but it seems like the boards are at their all-time worst. i might pick calzaghe against foreman right now in 2010 but i wouldn't put any money on it.
Re: Fantasy Match-up: Joe Calzaghe vs George Foreman
It's a unique and unusual opinion, and this one is about as extreme as I've heard. I suppose a Valuev Willy Pep hypothetical would be one better. So if that's your take good for you I doubt many others will find a place to hang their logic on this one. But here's one for the diverse and eclectic.

Today? I'd still put a few bucks on the Old Man.bjermaine wrote:you see what happens guys when i go away and don't post for months. you get topics like this. i haven't looked at this site in forever but it seems like the boards are at their all-time worst. i might pick calzaghe against foreman right now in 2010 but i wouldn't put any money on it.

stay away from this site then. its better off without you criticizing posters instead of sharing boxing ideas and wisdom.bjermaine wrote:you see what happens guys when i go away and don't post for months. you get topics like this. i haven't looked at this site in forever but it seems like the boards are at their all-time worst. i might pick calzaghe against foreman right now in 2010 but i wouldn't put any money on it.

How about a Mayweather - Foreman fight?big train express wrote:you people are severely underrating joe calzaghe? hes been in close decisions before but who hasnt? mayweather is the p4p best right now and hes been in close calls with questionable opponents.
Give me your "thoughts" on that.
Re: Fantasy Match-up: Joe Calzaghe vs George Foreman
I'm not sure if this thread is a joke or what, but if it is for real then Foreman by KO inside of the first minute. This is the kind of thread that shows poor judgement and a real fantasy. How can you compare Foreman to Lacy is behond me, and shows very little knowdlege of boxing hisory. You sir need a history lesson, and Calzaghe as good as he was could not compete with Foreman.
Even today I will still give Foreman more than a punchers chance.

Re: Fantasy Match-up: Joe Calzaghe vs George Foreman
The original question was about this fight at Light heavyweight. Don't think Foreman could make LHW even with a 24 or even a 48 hour prior to the fight weigh-in. Calzaghe is a big guy for 168, he walks around at close to 200 and usually by fight time he is well into the 180s.
At Cruiserweight, the young Foreman could probably make the weight 24-48 hours before the fight and be back at 215-20 by fight time. I don't think that Calzaghe at Cruiserweight would have the power to hold Foreman off or make him respect him. At Cruiserweight I'd take Foreman, at LHW, Foreman wouldn't make the weigh-in.

Why would Foreman slip down to LHW?

Let's drain down Ezzard Charles to featherweight while we're at it . . . .
