Unsanctioned fight?

Post by daz52 »

Hi

Peter Giorgio made his pro debut at the Croation Club on Saturday night. I was there and he won a UD V Fellows. Now it says the bout was not sanctioned? BTW his last name is spelt incorrectly on his BoxRec. Its Giorgio not Geogio.

Somebody on the matchmaker's team stuffed up badly. People who make their living from boxing should not give ammunition to enemies of the sport.

Billy H was matchmaker if I am not mistaken. Peter Mitrevskis show.

Nah sorry mate unsure of that one. I dont know how the hell this happens. Why let the fight go on if they knew it would ultimately be changed to a NC?

Apparently Giorgio sold 4 tables = $8,000. If his fight didn't go ahead 8k would no doubt fly out the window.

As far as the Authority is concerned, the fights didn't happen. However, Boxrec is a different story.
I'll insert an explanation in Wiki (lil' blue book) once I get full details.

Anton - Gupee scored a TKO in round one. That fight happened so whether or not the Authority wants to believe it, the fight was real, it was a professional prizefight and it should go down as a win, not a No-contest.

Thailand doesn't EVER sanction it's bouts as there is no legal commission and yet every fight is counted that takes place. The guy fought in a bout where he got paid and regardless of what anyone thinks, it was a pro fight and should be counted.

I'll insert that fact in Wiki, but not as an official result 'cos it was an unauthorized fight.
The guys were unregistered & the fight was not officiated by Combat Sports Authority of NSW, as required by State of NSW legislation & its rule & regulations.

The fight was illegal, therefore Craig Waller could've called police & have the combatants escorted out of the venue, which could've caused other problems.
IMHO, Craig did the wise thing. Had David Moreland still been in charge, he most certainly would've called police.
Take it on the chin & put it behind you.

Take it on the chin and put it behind me? You ought to keep your ping-pong statements to yourself. This guy flew over to Aus for the purpose of fighting in a pro fight - despite being unsanctioned, the bout took place and was a professional fight. It was the guy's debut and should be counted. Fights are not counted in Thailand as no decisions even though they are unsanctioned - maybe I should simply change every fight that isn't a title fight into a no-decision? What sort of bullshit is this Anton? I don't care who is in charge - and it's was Mitrevski's promotion - both of these guys made their professional debut and were paid for the fight. That constitutes a pro fight and thus it should be counted. There is a way of noting that the fight was unsanctioned - record the result and use this feature.

Fights/results are NOT on Authority's official results nor recorded by Australian National Boxing Federation,
http://www.anbf.org/Results10/Punchbowl%20270210.htm therefore I can't record them any other way.

The fight results in Thailand are not recorded by the phony Thailand Boxing Commission - that doesn't mean they didn't happen. Perhaps you should stop being such a dick about this Anton and ask yourself if these professional fights happened or not.

Legislation & its rules & regulations tell me they were not professional boxing bouts.
End of story!

I dont see the issue? If the fight was in Thailand it would have been recorded, ok, fair enough. But the fight was in Aus, where proffessional fights need to be sanctioned. It wasn't sanctioned and there for was not a proffessional boxing match and not recorded, fair enough.

I understand your gripe Scottmallon but the fight wasn't in thailand so those rules don't apply.

LOL.... :OhYes: on a more serious note, Scottmallon's approach and lax attitude towards sanctioning is a bit of a worry.

The fact he's closely associated with boxer(s) is also a worry. It's in breach of Boxrec's policy.

The fights in question were sanctioned, 3 hours before the first bout the boxing authority ( craig waller) told one of the officials he had made a mistake and not to let the fights go ahead, when the promoter tried call ing craig at least 40 times he wouldnt return his calls, the whole situation could of been fixed if craig had rang the promoter himself instead of just ignoring the problem.
