Not as uncommon as you might think, unfortunately.

Play with fire and you will get burnt! Not a bit of sympathy for him to be brutally honest.

It is hard to feel sorry for greedy, lazy people in fairness.Deno1986 wrote:Play with fire and you will get burnt! Not a bit of sympathy for him to be brutally honest.
I remember watching his school boy fight with BJ Saunders on youtube - talented lad.
With him getting caught chasing easy, quick money means it is hard to feel sorry for him.

I know a load of people who bust their arses on building sites in snow and frost for peanuts and don't suddenly start dealing drugs.
Being poor is absolutely no excuse for being a drug dealer.

he hasnt been convicted of anything yet, so i think everyone should reserve judgment until this happens.(if it happens)
innocent until proven guilty and all that

When you're 20, you don't know your arse from your elbow. To make it worse, you think you know it all.
This isn't an excuse. It's just my opinion.

Totally aggree.
Re: Sad, bad news for young Jack Arnfield
A generation or two ago they'd been and come back from war at 20!! married with kids and a full time job. A job that wouldve been real hard graft and entailed walking 5 miles to and from work every day.MachoMan09 wrote:An opinion that I share. There are exceptions but most 20-year-olds are still kids really. Especially in our mollycoddled society.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:When you're 20, you don't know your arse from your elbow. Not being naive as there"s generally no smoke without fire, but a couple of years ago Bradley Saunders was in a similar position and look where he is now-back Boxing again at a high level with all charges presumably dropped?

Re: Sad, bad news for young Jack Arnfield
problem is the money is quick and easy when dealing drugs, get the right connection and supply and its hard to find where to hide the money you can make from it.
how many 20 year olds make any money? Drugs is seen as the quick way to it

Very true, I know a lad who was making a grand a week through coke and he was barely out of his teens and that's on top of his regular job too.Old bones Ian wrote:problem is the money is quick and easy when dealing drugs, get the right connection and supply and its hard to find where to hide the money you can make from it.

Seen as the quick way to it by who? Young lads who obviously see that as justified.
Id rather graft my arse off on minimum wage and be able to look in the mirror than to be involved in that scummy existance. So no excuse whatsoever, its about how you conduct yourself in life and if drug involvement is how you decide to go then you expect everything you get both with the law and outside of it. Thousands of 20years olds are risking and giving their lifes thousands of miles away in comparison so no sympathy for a drug dealer no matter how young or old.

I am making no excuses what so ever for what the lad has been accused of.davidas wrote:Old bones Ian wrote:problem is the money is quick and easy when dealing drugs, get the right connection and supply and its hard to find where to hide the money you can make from it.

I would like to point out that i work 2 jobs , one of them as a youth worker. I sometimes have to do a 15hr day. I spend time working and talking to young people (16-24 year olds).
I try to instill in them a sense of worth in them, and that whilst working and saving it's helped me travel round the world a couple of times.
I point out that most drug dealing is at the sharp end , and they will get dropped in it by everyone if caught.
I've seen and been involved in differcult circumstances early in my life, its easy to fall into a dodgy life and hard to climb back out of it.
Re: Sad, bad news for young Jack Arnfield
Mr McNeilly - for once 100% disagree with you.
At 20 unless you have real issues mentally etc etc then you surely know that drug dealing is a bad, bad game to get into.
If he is guilty then he deserves what he gets.
Drugs full stop ruin lives and therefore anyone guilty of peddling them should be severely punished IMO.
When I was 20 I knew my arse from my elbow!!
Its just at 32 I struggle now!!

It's quick money, and hard to say no too once that money flies in.
It always catches you up in the end.
Re: Sad, bad news for young Jack Arnfield
I would have gone down that same road, at 17 I joined the army, got out when I was 29, I guess that saved me from those dealings that went on when I was in the east end, most of the guys that I was with at that time, either went to prison, or died by either drugs or murder, so I was lucky...
Re: Sad, bad news for young Jack Arnfield
I know of a few guys who were involved in that kind of thing and the truth is they didnt think they were doing a lot wrong. "Its only a bit of sniff..." etc It was as though they didn't view themselves as 'proper' dealers.Wrists wrote:At 20 unless you have real issues mentally etc etc then you surely know that drug dealing is a bad, bad game to get into.
Before anyone starts, I'm not agreeing with them or with dealing, and I have no idea of what defines a 'proper' dealer - I am just giving you the impression I got from lads of a similar-ish age to Jack.
If guilty, then I guess Arnfield thought he'd get away with it, like a lot of lads his age. Very foolish if true, in his position especially.

Drug dealers are no different from off licences and newsagents except the legality of course............ Drink and cigs kill more, and prob a larger proportion of users than illegal drugs.
Re: Sad, bad news for young Jack Arnfield
I don't condemn people who sell coke, but have no time for brown dealers.

I agree with a lot of this actually, Kev. All I'm saying is young often = daft. They can't see the consequences/reality of their actions sometimes...until it's too late.Wrists wrote:Mr McNeilly - for once 100% disagree with you.
