No chance, he may make lesser fights for Warren, but for the big decisions like this it will be Warren all the way, 100%.
OK, then. Maccarinelli can't be a fan of Warren any more then.

Yes, he has been down, but he has always recovered and gone on to either win or go into the late rounds and put up a hell of a fight. Lately he has looked in excellent form and is by far the toughest opponent Mitchell will have faced.

Prescott never did anything before or after Khan (except lose to Miguel Vasquez) and Mitchell has not been in the ring with one world class fighter. His knockouts come against mediocre opposition, he never had Prescott in serious trouble and took 9 rounds to get Johanneson out of there. Look at the opponents he has shown his power against and tell me why they are relevant at the world level or prove he can impressively stop a world class fighter.

You mention fighters like Earl and Casa dropping Katsidis, well if a fighter like Carl Johanneson could provide Mitchell with so much trouble than Katsidis will be a nightmare.Katsidis has only lost to elite world class fighters, and he has been competitive both times, so I'm shocked that some people are picking Mitchell to win by early KO.

Mitchell should fight the same type of fight he did against Prescott. Box smart and do not get into a slug fest. He is more skilled than Katsidis and needs to be light on his feet and offset Katsidis charges, get and out with combinations, and counter punch effectively. I doubt the fight will turn out to be the war many expect. Mitchell didn't look to trade at all with the fringe contender Prescott, who is a level below Katsidis and doesn't hit any harder.

I think Mitchell will win a close decision by out boxing his opponent, but I would not be totally surprised to see him overwhelmed by Katsidis pressure.
Mitchell is by far a better fighter now than when he boxed Johanneson, Tibbs has him boxing to his true style a box-fighter where Cook had him brawling and fighting face first. If Mitchell boxed Johanneson like he boxed Prescott he'd have beaten Johanneson much easier

Carl struggles at the weight too.I think it was a great performance by Mitchell, showed a lot of guts and heart against a very good, and strong, domestic performer. Its just now he needs to step up to the next level to beat Katsidis,i think he can.

I think this is a 50-50 fight to be honest, I wouldn't necessarily favour either guy. I think Mitchell has improved but Katsidis hasn't really changed much. On paper it is an excellent blend of styles and should be a fantastic fight, whoever wins it.

I will state it again - Mr W arren should be congratulated for this - its another big show with what will be a quality undercard filled by the "Olympians" - for those that disagree - name another promoter who viably competes with W arren with regards to the quality of his shows?

Please educate me!!!! :TU:

Yes, there are many people who have criticisms of W arren as I do!!! - but with regards to the quality shows he puts on - of course on the condition we dont start playing "the late withdrawls" game again - there are very few promoters throughout Europe who rival him!!!

I know promoters put on the odd good show here and there which singled out are perhaps better in quality in promoter - but then it seems they have shot their load and finances and the consistency is not there where as W arren does not seem to have such a problem.

Please feel free to argue/debate to the contrary - of course give examples of consistency by other promoters!!! :TU:

Dagenham sensation Kevin Mitchell is rewarded for a hot run of form when he faces Aussie hard man Michael “Rocky” Katsidis in London in May for the WBO interim lightweight title
Despite the irritating and confusing ‘interim’ tag, this is a showdown not to be missed, a showdown of two genuine world class fighters with a particularly high threshold to pain. Katsidis features in one blood-and-guts battle after another and Mitchell willingly shrugged off the best shots of Leeds puncher Carl Johanneson – a Johanneson at his best – and those of Colombian puncher Breidis Prescott, the man who famously spreadeagled Amir Khan in Manchester, to come through in style both times. Unbeaten in 31 outings since turning pro as a crack amateur seven years ago, Mitchell looks ready for the world at 25 and linked up with renowned London trainer Jimmy Tibbs recently, which will serve him well against the relentlessly aggressive Katsidis. As his recent fights have shown, Mitchell is already moving and boxing quite brilliantly under the vastly experienced Tibbs.
Katsidis has won his last three, in good company, and lost only to the top-flight duo of Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz in 28 outings, when a leaky defence cost him, although he was ahead when Casamayor nailed him in an unforgettable encounter in the States in 2008 (10 rounds), which remains the only time Katsidis has been stopped. He dropped a 12-round split decision to the “Baby Bull” Diaz on Texas territory in September 2008, on Diaz territory. Katsidis adorns a distinctive Greek warrior helmet into the ring and then goes to war and has proved immensely popular among boxing fans the world over. To use the rather unpleasant adage, it is kill or be killed with Katsidis and he ‘ruined’ Luton’s Graham Earl in a savage encounter at Wembley in 2007, climbing off the floor to pound Earl into five-round corner submission. Leeds referee Micky Vann threw out the towel at one point in yet another unforgettable encounter. Katsidis is obviously hittable and he busts up badly but call him a modern day Jeff Fenech – he can fight and he can whack.
Mitchell showed the same championship calibre when he dazzled the monstrous Prescott over 12 rounds just three months ago in Newcastle, with Khan lurking in the venue, since when he has upended Colombia’s usually durable Ignacio Mendoza in just two rounds at Wembley. He stopped that man Johanneson in nine make-or-break rounds in 2008 for British and Commonwealth super-featherweight titles and has never looked back, tightening up a loose defence under Tibbs, resisting his natural urge – his Katsidis-like urge – to throw caution to the wind and, of course, moving up a weight. The L-plates were removed some time ago and Mitchell is now up there with the Forumula One boys, with the 29-year-old Katsidis, who looked like a fighter as an 11-year-old.
To repeat this is a showdown simply NOT to be missed, except for those of a faint-hearted disposition.

It won't be Upton Park on the 8TH May West Ham play there the next day. Warren will need to stack the undercard to fill the O2.

He's getting credit for it. Nobody has had a bad word to say about this fight.
Spud wrote:and watch his undercard for this one in comparison to the Haye/Ruiz one - W arren maybe in some peoples opinions not a nice person - but unlike some promoters he knows how to put a decent show on.

Or rather, watch what undercard is announced, and then compare it to the one that actually happens.

DG,

Why not answer the questions in hand - name another promoter in this country who puts on the shows W arren does - throughout the year - I have acknowledged I dislike many many things that he may have done or said - but there simply is not a promoter in this country to touch him!!!

Tell me otherwise DG - and please do give examples of consistency instead of the rare occasion!!!

And with regards your allegations of me looking for a job with W arren Promotions - they simply would not pay enough for somebody of my quality and knowledge - now please - now we have that out of the way - could you or anyone else on this forum answer my questions giving examples of CONSISTENCY where another promoter matches the quality of W arren's shows - or is it simply a FACT you and others only answer is to belittle or insult me??

That definition of "consistency" is the tough one, Warren is the longest running promoter in the UK..... so any promoter you could mention as a counter argument, could be argued "yeah, but has he been doing it for 25 years".

I'll maintain what Hatton has put on so far has been consistently better than what Warren has put on for the last 6 months. Naturally Jury is still out whether this can be sustained.

I'll also maintain that what Hennessey put out last year while working with ITV was better than the Sky coverage under Warren - although again it can be countered that Warren had more shows Hennessey - does more equal better irrespective of the quality? Open to interpretation.... likewise, it can also be argued than Hennessey is a new comer so compared to Warren OVER THE YEARS.

You mention Hatton Promotions - I will agree some of the fights have been very pleasing to the eye - but with regards to the quality of fighters - I would argue many of them are a "working progress" rather than the existing quality w arren has in his stable and his shows!!!

Warren stable still lack headline acts but with some very good young stars in the making Mitchell, Cleverly Brook they should be headline big bills from now on.

But they've consistently been in competitive fights, if not in reality but in paper. Can we say that CONSISTENTLY of the likes of Cleverly etc.

Namer me one Promoter that 'allegedly' owes one of his ex fighters £1.8M?

Fwank is the biggest Promoter, but he served up so much rubbish ( allegedly) on SKY that lots of us cancelled SKY and SKY cancelled boxing...allegedly!

Fwank is consistent, but not in a good way!

Remine me , who took their stable away from ITV for the bigger ££s at SKY?

Clue..It wasn't me!

I would say, speaking purely as a paying fan, that Maloney consistently puts on the better-quality shows, albeit admittedly at a lower level than Warren. Maloney may not have delivered a Hatton-Tszyu or a Calzaghe-Kessler, but I'd say for well-matched domestic-level contests and challenging tests for midcarders, he delivers more value for money through an entire bill.

I don't dispute for one second Warren's position as the country's - arguably the continent's - most powerful promoter and that he does his job perfectly for his boxers, but as a punter, I'd definitely say Maloney was more consistently VFM.

Oliver,

I knew you or someone would name Maloney - I honestly think "Little Frank" is better to deal with and "appears" more approachable - however with regards top quality shows - maybe the top of the bill but right way through the card??

Mr W arren has quality fighters throughout his stable and with his "Olympians" theme regularly puts on "quality" shows throughout the card - now please not doing this to be picky - but you name Maloney as viable opposition - can you name the shows that have had the SAME quality throughout the card that Mr W arren has in his shows??

If O2 booked where will it be. Surely Cleverly should make a defence in Wales.
