Hatton vs Collazo - Come on Ricky lost.

Post by Nel »

Just watched this fight and am pretty sure Ricky lost by at least two rounds. And if that wasnt a knockdown in the last round then im a four legged dutchman :oo .

Anyone agree?

I had it really close, a draw or by a point to ricky i think.

Dont recall the knockdown in the last though, wasnt it when collazo was giving him a shallacking and ricky went down through fatigue... ? Only ever watched it the once, and that was live, drunk.

it was a close fight but Hatton deserved the win IMO
i think when a Guy is the favourite and your used to seeing him win convincinly that when hes in a tough closeish fight
you tend to say the underdog should have won .

I never really mark fights round by round while watching them as i like to just sit and enjoy it

One things for certain, one more round and Hatton would have been done, Collazo was hammering him in the 12th. Not a great way to win a fight by any stretch of the imagination :shame:

I wouldn't have been surprised for it to have gone either way.

Upon reflection, given that Hatton is always wide open to the left hook and Collazo is a much bigger, decent southpaw - it was a pretty decent win.

Collazo has unfortunately never had much luck on close fights going to points.

I thought the Berto fight was a win for Collazo.

Collazo may have outlanded Berto, but Berto landed the bigger meatier blows, had him winnng comfortably

Hatton-Collazo was 7-5 either way, and Ive scored it either way to

If it wasn't for the first round knockdown he'd have lost on my card, I had it as a draw.

Did you give the last to Collazo 10-8 ?

I had it 10-9, but he deffo did enough to have been awarded a 10-8.

No I didnt count the knockdown and still had Collazo winning very very clearly.

I hear Urango also give him a good fight but Ive not watched that yet.

Urango, you can clearly see ricky gas after about 7 (is it) rounds. he boxed brilliantly for the first few, then seems to gas. Apparently had flu in the build up.

Till you look at his legs(which are like that of a Flyweight).

I had Hatton-Collazo way wider than most 116-111 Hatton.
I remember one round which was a real 50/50 which I gave to Hatton, and you could make an argument for a 10-8 round in the last(a pretty strong argument) which would be 114-112. But I just can't see it as a Collazo win.

I suppose it would only take another of the closh-ish rounds to be given to Collazo to find a draw, but I just don't believe Collazo won 7 rounds(or more) of that fight. Hatton looked terrible and was expected to prevail easily so that may have affected some peoples scoring, that's not to say my opinion on the fight is more correct that anyone else. If anything the general consensus seems to be(and I'm mainly going from memorary) either 115-112 Hatton or 114-113 Hatton. So people with those scores would have the most claim to being 'right'.

get hold of Urango Bailey if you can. Urango is a monster. really like him, just sometimes you like a boxer that you know perhaps isnt the best. Must say though, I arranged an interview with him through his manager pre hatton and it never came off, hat pissed me off a bit.

Still, some of his knock outs are brutal.

Ricky was coughing and spluttering in the corner. I think Ricky still did very well in this fight, a very underated performance. He made Urango look stupid in the first half of the fight and even when he tired - he still was well on top, never looked in doubt.

I remember the criticisms of Urango being too slow to catch a cold (no pun - if Ricky did have a cold) after the fight on here. I was one of them who was critical. Urango has shown since whilst he aint the greatest, he is no mug.

A good performance irrespective if there was problems or not - practically a shut out against a numerous time belt holder. Especially if you consider how awful Ricky looked against Collazo - a very tough fight to score. I thought Collazo was going to get it being the champion in the states.
