Newport Athletic Grounds at Rodney Parade are still the home of Newport Rugby Club. Joe Louis gave an exhibition there with Keen Simmons on 30-06-1944.

Charles Alfred is his real name but at the start of his career he was being reported separately in the three main south wales newspapers either as "Young Alfred","Young Charles","Alfred Charles",or "Charles Alfred" before Young Charles(Cardiff later Newport) became the universal reported name.
