Gavin would be too cute for Williams IMO.

Good fight though and a cracking test nonetheless!

gavin relishes a challenge & wants to fight people he respects, williams can give him a decent scrap at this stage which stands frankie in good stead further down the road.
also i think in this country we put down are fighters, there are many kids that can give gavin somthing to think about & just because they can people say oh gavin aint world class, it is all about timing if hatton had boxed magee 3 years prior or neary he's of come second best, jason rowland was dead at the weight for him & he ended up being considerd a p4p'r

Looks a great little scrap. Would also provide Gavin with the opportunity to win the English Title. Good going as he's only had 6 fights so far.

Gavin would win, he is too classy for Williams and would outbox him and out counter him, winning on points.

imo i think williams would stop/ud gavin, gavin would win the first 3 rounds but then steve would catch up with him then the test would be can gavin handle williams constant pressure and the 8oz gloves :bag:

Gavin's thinking big, talking about beating Daws and fighting for the English title, so let's see Warren's confidence in him and challenge Williams next.

Over ten rounds Williams presents Frankie with an early acid test. I can't see SN making this happen in his very next fight, unlike McDonagh, Williams packs a heavy punch and is way more aggressive.

Considering the problems Grant caused Williams in their recent fight, I think Frankie would be a step to far for him. To be honest I had the Grant Williams fight very very close...

Williams wouldnt catch Frankie enough to stop him.

You don't rate your chances against Nathan 'Maths Degree' Cleverly then? :P

That's just a joke, by the way.

funtime on points good scrap though williams is a tough bugger! walked through everything grant hit him with but grant cant punch at all and despite funtimes record i dont think he hits hard either but i think funtime has skill to burn can see him winning wide on points

I like Steve he's a top guy BUT he ain't beating Frankie Gavin guys.. Steve needs more fights against tricky guys as it was very close against Grant and frankie is miles ahead of Grant in terms of talent and punch power!!

Yeah, shame because he's a fellow Scouser, but Williams will walk in and get picked off all day.

Very comfortable points win for Gavin.

i think you should refrase this statement digger because gavin isnt miles ahead of mcloskey, barnes or any of the top 8 british fighters, dont get me wrong i think frankie gavin is a talented fighter but people are getting carried away with him,let him prove himself in the pro game then we can all judge

if you look at the opponents ste has faced he has been threw in sometimes at a level were people might think "this is tough, dont think he will win this one" but he has come through them all with his record intact,we all know frankie gavin is a class act but williams talent isnt getting a mention here.ive sparred ste and watched him sparr lads who are upto 4 stone heavier than him and fit and he's dropped them, now i know these lads arnt frankie gavin but ste is a fighter who can take shots all day and not get hurt but he can also box clever when he wants to,everytime he comes up against someone who we think its a tough one he raises his level so dont count your chickens before they hatch. i might be being biased cause i know him but IF frankie did win (which i dont think he will) he would of had to earn it and probably would be in a mess for a few weeks

a few good points here lads !
this would be a tough fight for sure and i wouldnt judge williams on his last fight against grant were he did enough to win against a technical slickster but his previous fights against the polish kid and against higginson were good results especially against the polish kid which was a tough fight were williams had to box a bit aswell, obviousley gavins ameteur record is uncomparable to any other ameteur and looks the real deal probably the most talented and techniquely gifted young pro out there an that includes are olympians but this fight is no forgone conclusion how many times have we seen technically sound boxers gettin out toughed this fight would pose plenty of questions for gavin an would be an excellant judgemant fight for him at this stage of his career ! cant make my mind up on a winner but a cracking fight just hope it happens!
