TAKALOO: I JUST WANT TO FIGHT

Takaloo is still waiting for a fight date and opponent in what will be his first fight since September's shattering KO loss to Wayne Alexander.
The Margate light-middle knows he faces a tough road back, but so far, no opponent has been confirmed.
The former two-time WBU champion was hoping to fight next month, but said proposed plans for a fight against Thomas McDonagh or Matt Macklin were never finalised.
Takaloo said: "It's frustrating. I'm in shape, only need to be given five or six weeks notice to get right, but it doesn't seem to be coming together. I'm going to have to be patient."
Takaloo is well aware that he is way down the Sports Network pecking order after a 2004 campaign that saw him lose to Eugenio Montiero and then the big domestic dust-up against Alexander, but he feels that a chance to fight is all he wants and it is down to allegedly to come up with the opponent and date.
"I was hoping to fight on Joe Calzaghe's undercard, but I doubt that will happen. I'm not asking for the world, just a fight. I don't need the money from boxing, I've got my money put away into various things and property.
"However, despite what happened against Alexander I still have ambitions and just want to fight.
"People may say I've got nothing left after losing to Wayne, but let's get me in the ring so we can find out. I know I'm okay. I just got caught by a great punch. I wasn't battered for eight or nine rounds and then sparked. I was fine and jumped out of the ring. If anything, I think Wayne was more hurt than me from the bodyshot I landed, but hey, he landed the one that mattered.
"Whatever, I'm not asking for title fights and big money – I just wish want to fight. It's frustrating training, peaking, not fighting, training, peaking.... you can only do that so much before it wears you out.
"But I am in excellent shape and the rest has done me good. I'm actually feeling less aches and pains and now I'm learning how to listen to my body and know when to put my foot down and when to ease off.
"I just want the chance to show the skills I was beginning to show in the Alexander fight before I got over-eager and angry because I got cut and rushed in."

No disrespect, but to ask for 5-6 weeks notice on a comeback fight is taking the piss. That's not being realistic. Realistically, he should be ready to jump at any available opportunity at very short notice. You can only expect that much notice if it's a title fight.

Best of luck to him though when he does get a date.
