Raul Garza from Corpus had only 6 previous bouts and walked over in his local GG.

I was told that the:
Cantu-Ximenez
Rincon-Rodriguez
& Garza-Mack
bouts were all very close.

If you are a little guy, you don't want to be named Garcia as all 3 lost!

I would say Cantu vs Lopez will be interesting.

I would doubt it. Tony was very light for a HW. At camp, he weighed in the mid 180's. He was talking about dropping down to 178 which I think is a good move for him in spite of this loss.

Lopez should handle that one pretty easily, he handled Cantu at the PAL and so it should be another victory.

I agree. Even with the loss there is always USA, PAL and next year but 178 is a better weight for Mack.

There's an error in your posting. Kevin Terrazas at 165 won today.

Kevin Terrazas won a 4-1 decision over Enrique Nerra of Twin Cities.

Thanks for the correction. I had the corners backwards for the final two bouts. I have fixed it above.

Adam Lopez looks to win at 114 tonight against Oscar Cantu. If their last fight at the PAL is any indication, Adam should win easily, maybe even stop him.

Everyone I've spoken to has told me the same thing: Adam Lopez was robbed...again. I don't know if anyone recalls, but he was robbed in the finals last year, too. What an injustice to the young man.

The closest fights of the night were 114 & 123. Notice both champions look like they've been in wars.

Spence-Prograis was maybe the best fight in that building since Hatley-Orozco.

Congrats to the Texas champs. I like how they always get a team photo with the guys wearing their uniforms that they will wear at the National GG. I have noticed that they rarely have anyone back out from going to the nationals.

Way to go Oscar!!!

To ME personally ......I think the Golden Gloves has a different unwritten judging criteria. Some of these top boxers have to adjust ....if you don't, you'll lose.

Yes, you may freely use that photo, no credit necessary.

It is very CLEAR that at TEXAS STATE GG tournament, the judging is not using the same criteria/methodology as at typical USABOXING sanctioned national tournaments and regional qualifiers. The judging (and at times refereeing) seems to be closer to a pro fight than amateur. I.E. pure punchcount landed is not the only determining factor of who wins. Style, ring generalship, defense, etc. "can be" included as determining factors.

Regis wasn't robbed but he put up a great fight against Errol Spence. With some improvement he will be able to beat him.
