Eastman was hurt by Elliot, so I think Benn would have KO'd him. Eubank would have hurt him to - but would have settled for a wide decision win.

Benn KO 6.

Eubank UD.

Eastman's 'iron' jaw is overrated, he was rocked against Dann as well as Elliot. Far too easy to hit and a middleweight Benn would have taken him out. Eubank could have if he wanted but I agree with Stu's outcomes

Ditto. Eastman has a good beard, but not as good as Eubank's, neither the power and fire of Benn, or the boxing skills and heart of Eubank.

I think Eastman versus either would be a very tight battle.

I lean towards Eubank and Benn slightly.

Both would beat Eastman pretty easily, he's already shown he doesnt have the intensity or workrate at the top level.

Agreed. If, in this mini golden era of British MWs we can Imagine Michael Watson was able to compete, I'd see Eastman barely getting a look in.

I don't quite get what that means. Watson did more than compete. He battered Benn, easily beat Eubank in their first fight, save for the scandalous decision rendered by the judges and was handing Eubank's ass to him in the second, and was only beaten by a moment of confusion when he thought the ref was stopping the fight.

I actually thought Watson was the most talented of the lot.

OK, poorly worded post. By "compete" I thinking of a tacful way to say "not a rasberry-ripple".

That's a fair claim, just goes to show how good Mike McCallum was when he fought Watson IMO

How many journeymen & unranked fringe contenders beat Chris Eubank in his long and illustrious "reign"? Too many to remember all in one go.

How many decisions and draws did he escape with? Ditto.

Howard Eastman fought the #1 undisputed champ and pushed him all the way to the last bell.

Eubank NEVER fought anywhere near the best of the beat. He stayed away from the US and the likes of Roy Jones, James Toney, Julian Jackson, Gerald McClellan, Mike McCallum etc in favour of scraping decisions over Dan Schommer(!!) & Ray Close (haha).

Eubank writes in his book "The reason I never fought Roy Jones was because he was never my mandatory challenger". Thats because you held the meaningless WBO belt while Roy was in the US fighting the likes of Hopkins & Toney you prick.

Eubank was equally slow & lazy. Eastman is leagues above Eubank and would destroy him.

Benn has credibiltiy despite his losses because he had the balls to step into the Lions Den and fight the likes of Iran Barkley & Gerald McClellan. Benn might beat Eastman on a close points decision after climbing off the floor once or twice. Either that or Benns head first style plays right into Eastmans heavy hands & he wears him down & grinds him out inside 10 rds.

Pushed all the way? He hardly won a round,

I thought he scraped past Tatesvyan also, who was merely a fringe contendor.

Howard Eastman is in about Ray Close's league, that is all. You mention Ray as if he was a journey man, he was a two time European Champion.

Eastman achieved a fight with the undisputed #1 middleweight in the world.

He had also before travelled to the bright lights of Las Vegas for a world title fight, losing a slim decision in a fight where it looked like he could have knocked his man out.

Chris Eubank never even TRIED to achieve a shot at a real world title or a fight with the big boys in the US as outside of his backyard and without his WBO henchmen he would be destroyed.

Credit to Benn for having the balls to fight Gerald McClellan and call out RJJ.

PS when Eastman fought a Eubank-level title defence opponent (Robert McCracken) he knocked his man out and didnt scrape a dodgy points win or draw.

All very well, agree with alot of those points except for the second paragraph - looked like he could have KO'd Hopkins? Slim decision? Not sure about that.

Yes, I agree Eubank for 20 defences didn't fight the absolute best, but he did go to Germany and outclassed two time geniune world champion Rochigianni and also beat Sugar Boy Malinga (somthing Benn NEVER did). To compare these with Robert McCraken is a bit much, not disrepct to McCraken but he wasn't as good as these two.

I give credit to Benn for beating McClellan and going to America and beating Barkley. However, credit for calling out RJJ - not sure about that. I'll fight Roy Jones for £3 million, can I have some credit please. Roy if your reading this, I'm calling you out - come one Chinny, £3 million and its on.

Nigel Benn has later admitted that he never stood a chance with RJJ but would have gladly accepted the fight for the money he was demanding. Same with Collins, he hasn't said it, but the money he was demanding meant the fight was never going to happen.

So Tatesvyan is better than Malinga or Rocchigiani?

Oh yeah, Eubank knockout Nigel Benn aswell and took a cruiserweight to a controversial decision and nearly KO'd him. Much like the Hopkins vs Eastman fight according to you.

Fair enough, but was Joppy alot better than the likes of Rochigianni or Malinga.

It was for the VACANT world title anyway, and Joppy was coming off a pouding by Tito - hardly a geniune world title. Remember if it wasn't for that Super Champion rule it would have never happend.

Thats true yes but Joppy was a top class Amercian (Eubank fought 0 top class yanks) and the fight was for a world title and was in Vegas in the Big Time as it were.

Eubank avoided these fights for obvious reasons and i was just giving praise to Eastman for taking the fight & his performance.

Joppy would have run rings around all of Eubanks bum of the month tour except Benn who may knock him out & Watson who may lose a close decision to Joppy.
