Audley Harrison - Albert Sosnowski off?

Fight news

Klitschko to face Sosnowski

With the proposed fight against former WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev falling through, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will now face European champion Albert Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KOs), probably on April 29 at the Schalke Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Klitschko’s manager Bernd Bönte told BILD that Valuev co-promoter Don King rejected a $2.5 million offer.

Wow. What a kick in the teeth. Just when Audley looked to have received a gift-wrapped title shot and possible ranking off the back of his glorious Prizefighter efforts. Now it looks like he'll have to actually work for it. Shock, horror.

Apparently its come from Klitchko's team so you assume it to be true.

As Sosnowski is with Hearn I am hoping they can salvage the European title fight with Harrison against a tba for the belt, we should know more later

MachoMan09 wrote:Thanks, Ian. Audley vs TBA for vacant euro strap it is, then. Big Albert has made the right call. It is just a pity for Audley that he will likely become champion by fighting a selected opponent. People will say it has been gift-wrapped, he's not a real champion etc...
If Dimitrenko takes it and Aud beats him, I think that's a good scalp mate.

Its worked out perfectly for Audley.

Beat a hand-picked opponent to pick up the Euro belt and get himself into the world top 15 for the alphabet boys then lose to Haye in the summer at some football stadium and get about £3 million quid for doing so.

Audley V Sprott Rematch??

I think the best option would be Chisora Vs Audley but could that be made??

That would make decent TV too??

OOHHHH bollocks.

YET another interesting , well made match up falls through.

Klit will cruise against Albert, Aud will get some dumbbum opponent, which will get him a title that means, and probably leads to , very little.

I love the smell of cynicism in the morning..... :OhYes:

EDIT--- Unless Aud gets one of the current British heavies who are on the rise. Not sure exactly who they ARE, but time will tell.

Bit early for Chisora?

Could be a bit early for Del Boy BUT he's come out and said he'll box anyone in the UK and after all Marty Rogan was only a novice and he beat Audley?? Chisora holds a win over the Commenwealth Champion so why not??

Sexton Vs Audley would be very interesting :geek:

Can't believe that Valuev turned down 2.5 million, or is that King trying to screw another boxer?

Yeah- he's certainly a legitimate challenger- I'd say Aud would have the clear edge though- others might disagree?

Wonder if the board would agree to Williams/Harrison for the British and European, although I have a feeling it will be Sexton, he is in the top 10 Euro so they should accept it if they can get Dimitrenko to stand aside.

Can't see him wanting to come to the uk next month.

I've changed my mind. It's gotta be Herbie. Or Danny. Or the Milky Bar headbutting bouncer bloke in the 'Vic Darke is an innocent man' t-shirt. My alzheimers is kicking in.

It's probably going to be a European opponent (if it happens at all.)

If Dimitrenko doesn't take it, Sprott is the obvious one and a good fight, but do promoters have to go down EBU ratings in order

Could be a good thing for Audley. Dimitrenko is a much more credible opponent than Sosnowki and just as beatable (if not moreso). If he wins this he'll probably be in line for a title shot within 6-12 months.

Audley against Vidoz could be a possibility with a sales pitch of 2 former Olympic rivals in a rematch. Winnable fight for Aud though Vidoz is very durable.

Would prefer to see Audley against Sexton though.

Looking at the rankings, I'd think Sexton was the most logical choice. If Harrison beats Sexton it wipes off the Rogan defeat. I don't think Dimitrenko will want the fight.

Erm, who has Harrison actually ever beaten to make you back him with so much confidence against ANYONE in Europe? Aren't you forgetting the fact that Audley always finds a way to lose? Dimitrenko would definitely beat him, as would Sexton and Sprott - again.

Bollocks.... I was going to make the trek to see this one. It was going to be an amazing atmosphere.

How does Audley justify a fight for the VACANT title. This was supposed to be a voluntary defence for Sosnowski.

Vidoz???? Will they drag him out of the umpteenth retirement for another shot?
