Blimey....hard to top that.

Barry McGuigan - had a 5 minute chat with him at a black tie do about Hatton's fight with Tszyu.

Johnny Nelson, spoke to him at the Thompson v Rothmann show.

Lloyd Honeyghan I shouted across to him "hey aren't you the guy who kicked the shit out of that Don Curry bloke?" He gave a loud throaty cackle at that.

Julius Francis - Very laid back and softly spoken character, nice guy.

Duke McKenzie and Richie Woodhall, spoke to them when they were working a show I went to, forget which one now, think maybe Woods v Johnson 2, both really chatty and nice blokes.

Mickey Cantwell, saw him at a show recently, good laugh.

Billy Schwer, right live wire.

John Conteh - nuff said.

Met Steve Bunce a couple of times, he's a friendly guy actually.

Yes, I think it will depend on the form of Simon Taylor for these last two games its a battle between him and Corry.

I think Rowntree will make the test side, short of option there.

Robinson vs Gareth Thomas for Full Back is a tough one, probably give the edge to Robinson.

Lewis Moody is another contendor, although I think if everybody is fully fit it should be Williams, Charvis (or Easterby) with Corry or Taylor at 8.

One win from the next two and I will be delighted, my call for progress was 4 out of 5, any four would have done. I hope Ireland can beat France cause that will make fantastic TV for the final game.

This would be my Lions team on the basis of the 3 internationals alone.

2) Mehfin Davies Wal - No arguments if you go for Byrne or Bullock.

10) O Gara IRE - Cert - nearest rival is Humphreys who is bench warming

12) Henson WAL - Darcy normally, but he's only played one game

Incidently, I am pretty sure that one of the ex-arsenal players, Martin Haynes (who played a blinder) got a contract from Swansea AFTER (and as a result of) that game, he was was clubless at the time of the game. He enjoyed a good few years down with the jacks afters.

....too tubby, northern and ugly to get on TV with the weather. I do forecasting for oil rigs, pilots and shipping. At the moment I'm working with pilots in the Antarctic and in May and June I'll be on the North Sea on crane barges - so operations rather than presenting/research.

There's often time to kill on these jobs, hence my post a little while ago about boxing DVDs.

As for getting it wrong, it's because the atmosphere's complicated. And in some cases I'm just crap at working out what's going to happen!!!

Anyway it looks cold for the rest of this week over the UK. It's colder there than where I am in the Antarctic!!!!

Met paul Smith to get a ticket for a local boxing bill and seem to be noticing Derry Matthews every where i go. Also got caught staring at Shea Neary, needless to say i immediately looked away!

David Haye - couple of times but bizarrely got on the tube a few weeks ago and he was there.
Steve Collins - been on the lash with him
Garry Delaney - ditto
Glenn McCrory - quite a few times. Had a beer with him after ODLH - Mosely II
Jim Watt - my best boxing mate is Scottish and very gregarious but is always tonguetied if he sees Watty
Ken Buchanan - ditto
Ricky Hatton - sat behind him on a plane from Vegas. Nice bloke, signed my copy of the Sonny Liston book
Frank Bruno - he opened a store my sister was the manager of, bloody grumpy
Jonny Nelson - once directed me to my hotel room (long story)

George Foreman - huge. Gotta say, his niceness seems a facade that could split at any time

Funny you say that about Haye, I always seem to see him ducking and diving around london.. i think he lives in marble arch so spends most of his free time around the centre..

Often heard it most definitely is.
Big smiles, but check out his eyes. Heard quite a few stories about people bumping into him when the cameras are off and he's a pretty mean SOB.
No change there then...who told that story about some HBO guy trying to talk a prime Tyson into a big fight with Big George.

Tyson's reply was along the lines of -

"NO WAY. I'm not going near Foreman, that guys a m*****f***ing killer!"

It was I. I was originally told by Frank Loterzio, who said he was there when the conversation, involving Tyson's advisers at the time (was it Finkel?) and the HBO people. Tyson went apeshit and stormed out.

Larry Holmes has always contended that Foreman is a bullshit artist, and that it's all an act, as have plenty of other people.

I guess that he basically will always have a mean streak, but tries to mollify it, whether that is for the sake of being nice or for the cameras, who knows.

I also think he's one shrewd businessman, for a guy who's a preacher, he sure has a love of money, he has about 20 luxury cars in his garage at home.

I was a student in Sheffield when Naz was at the height of his fame, and, indeed arrogance. One day I was nearly run over by him in his Lamborghini when he was pulling into the curb. Chatted to him for 5 minutes, he was spot on, nothing like the arrogant guy I'd seen on TV.

Bumped into Michael Brodie at a house party, top man. Didn't seem to mind my pissed ramblings, anyway.

Didn't half increase my respect for just how tough fighters are, though. I was considerably bigger than both of them, but I knew I wouldn't last 2 minutes, at the very most. And that was with both of them being nice as pie!
