Losing how it effects different fighters

Post by THEHAMMER321 »

How losing effects different fighters in different ways for example Joe Louis losing to Schmeling probably made Louis a better fighter or at least made him aware that he could be beat, other fighters like John ''THE BEAST'' Mugabi was not worth a plug nickel after Haglar I think in Mugabi's case he had devastated so many opponents that he thought he was unbeatable then when he lost he lost all desire any input would be appreciated.

The big punchers who use intimidation often suffer the most. Mugabi, Tyson, Foreman...

Fighters who are brought up fast a la David Reid and Fernando Vargas often suffer too because they end up getting crushed by a solid experienced contender or champ.

Others will change the way they fight to prevent it from happening again. W.Klit and Camacho among others.

It's very true, big punchers generally are affected after a bad loss so they're not the same headwise. One exception though, was Julian Jackson. Mike McCallum did a number on him yet he came back and just kept blasting people out

David Haye doesn't seem to have suffered much from losing to Carl Thompson.

Haye is a big puncher but I wouldn't say he relied on intimidation, which I think is the main point being made.

Good call. I left him out because he did lose one early on.

I've always considered an early defeat a part of a fighter's education.

Many big punchers often rely too much on their power and forget to box. Some of them early on their careers are pretty good boxers, but once they start relying on their power is all over.
